They probably did, but your brigade battle school is the ones supplying all the instructors and most course funds(that your unit doesn't pay for)

i think the part that gets me the most peeved about this is "One of Canada's children." I hate the fact that Canadians can be linked in any ways shape or form to this type of terrorism. Call me what you will but i still have the image of the good, and wholesome Canada.

There is no law against it, unless in a wartime situation. There is however a Canadian forces employeer assistance program where the Canadian forces will speak to your employer on your behalf and request time off for specific courses, and help entice your employer to give you the time off.
