Nope, I had stones broken up using lithotripsy (sp?) - ultrasonic shockwaves that break up the stones. Had that done in '92 in London (ON). No problems since (knock on wood). The procedure is well established here, the only issue is waiting times. :brickwall:
Ahh, that explains the wall to wall lineup for breakfast this morning. Never seen so many people in the WO's & Sgts mess at one time, even last summer. Well, at least it should be up and running by the time I FINALLY get to go there (after Dec?) ???
Ahh yes, but don't forget, some people protest because "it's the thing to do"
"Mom and Dad did it during Vietnam"
"I just saw Michael Moore's film"
"My friend is going, c'mon!"
ad nauseum.
Yes there is a right to protest (through freedom of speech and freedom of peaceful assembly), but when...
We did ROE training today; We were given about 10 MINUTES per scenario to DISCUSS the appropriate responses. I reminded the people in my group that the soldiers in the scenarios may have had 1/10th of a SECOND to REACT. Shook a few cobwebs from a couple of lads.
Hopefully the verdict will...
I put on my uniform and do my job to the best of my ability. :)
But really, things like what you've done can (and apparently has) bring a ray of sunshine (and a sense of perspective) to a troops day. Thank you for your kind comments, I only hope that the (silent) majority of Canadians feel the...
A small thought...
Instead of a full blown outlet, what if they shipped a few cases of Timmies cups (L & XL) w/ lids for use in the mess hall? I think it's all psychological anyway. Besides, I had my daily dose, so life is good. :D
Doesn't Starbucks do that already and give it an Italian name? Mucho Grande Syropa d'Maple? ;D
I meant keen on Timmies - I don't know how he takes his coffee. Anyone? ;D
Well...
IIRC in 1992 during the fun times in Sarajevo :-X, the big news from the MND at the time, Marcel Masse, was that "all maple syrup for the CF was to purchased from Quebec." Mind you, we shall see since uncle Rick is keen on the idea.
I'm still on the fence about the whole thing - "taste of home" vs logistical requirements. How much log work does it take to supply Burger King and others there?
Allan,
I have a portion of an email once sent to me which may have some of the answer, and no, it doesn't point to any official document about MCpl appointments. But here goes...
Evolution of the Master Corporal Appointment
One can see that a corporal - once a position of great authority in...
As I say - the solution to ignorance? Education. However, as past experience can attest (*cough* Airborne Regiment *cough*) what you say is probably true. :(
Not that I've been there (yet), but if the reasons for high prices were explained to the troops, I believe they would understand and be willing to pay for "a little bit of home". 8)
