    Finding someone in PMQ's

Well I have a friend whom I am pretty sure is still in Gagetown and last year was in PMQ's.  I'd like to know if their is any way to find out where she is in the PMQ's. I mean is their like a phone book or something for people in PMQ's? Cheers Inf Off

    getting on training courses

I must say, that I made more than 4500 last year as a new Ocdt, if I count just my CAP/small party tasking I made approx 7000. On another note, I'm not sure why you would do both BMQ and BOTP as a reservist.  You should only need to do BMQ and QEO (which is small party tasking, essentially the...

What makes a good Officer? What makes a bad Officer?

I have just recently stumbled upon a CF publication that discusses this exact topic, here is a link: http://www.cda-acd.forces.gc.ca/CFLI/engraph/leadership/doc/DND_Doctrine_e.pdf The article is called Leadership in the CF: Doctrine.  I don't know if this is exactly what your are looking for but...

    Cadet Archives?

I wasn't sure where to post this, so if it's at the wrong place... I was wondering if cadet units have archives.  The reason being that my uncle used to be in the air cadets in Montreal and he was killed in a plane crash in 197?, I can't remember the exact year, but I am trying to find a...

All things Health Care Admin/HCA (merged)

OK so maybe the question was a little vague. A little more background: I had in the past thought about changing trades and HCA was one I was considering.  Now I have decided to wait, and get a bit more experience in my own trade before deciding if I want to stick with it.  So maybe a better...

Flags at half mast outside CFB Gagetown.

I was quite surprised to see the some companies with their flags at half-staff to commemorate the Montreal massacre.  Now normally I wouldn't be surprise as it is something to be remembered, and I certainly don't mean to downplay the significance of the event.  But I mean yes 15 people were...

    Senior Subordinate Officer

Thanks Michael, great site and tons of info!  One question, a couple of the articles are quite dated do you know if most traditions are still upheld in messes?

    Senior Subordinate Officer

OK, so I've been in for a year now and I've learned a few things (OK tons of stuff).  But I am still a little confused as to the role of a senior sub.  Can anyone clarify what his/her role would be in the mess with more junior officers?

    new platoon commander

Nfld_Sapper: I realize that CAP is not suppose to prepare me to command a platoon, perhaps I did not express myself well.  I simply get the impression that everyone (higher ups) seems to think that I should know everything already.  Now perhaps this is only my point of view and I am imagining...

What is it exactly that reserve HCA's do when they go into their unit, or on weekend exercises?

    new platoon commander

Thanks for all the advice, if only I would have known this before... oh well at least if it's here others will benefit from the advice as well. Keep all the advice coming, it's amazing how much I still have to learn!

    new platoon commander

Well I tried to search for a topic that would be similar to what I am posting, but was unsuccessful so here it is. I will be promoted to 2Lt this year and am a new platoon commander.  Now you would think that after CAP I would be prepared for such a position, but I quickly realized I was not. ...

    Officers and trade transfer

I have read many threads on NCMs switching trades, but I would like to know about officers. Can an officer change trades before being fully trained in their current trade?  For example if I decided I wanted to swath trades would I have to attempt all phases of training before trying to switch or...

    Reserve Officer Policy

Same question different status...  Is there a policy on two reservists from different units dating?  Both are officers of equal rank. And what if they visit your mess or vice versa, like for a mixed dining in?  Should they go as a civvy or in uniform?

    DP 1.1 Infantry Officer Course

Could you post a link to that information on this site?  I would like to know when the course is running.

    DP 1.1 Infantry Officer Course

I have heard through my chain of command that next summer the course will be offered in mods as the CAP was this past summer.  Apparently it will also be a reserve and reg force mixed course again like the CAP was this past summer.

    Common Army Phase

This may seem like a bit of a highjack but it is related to the subject at hand.  Anyone have any suggestions as to what to bring to Gagetown when your going to be there for 3 months?  I've read the what to bring to basic threads but I was wondering if their was anything besides the camelpack...
