Since Trudeau has officially resigned and there will be a leadership race soon, maybe the thread title isn’t that relevant anymore?
It’s probably a good time to close this thread and move on to the LPC Leadership Race thread?
Why yes, I created that thread :sneaky:
Splitting this off pre-emptively since Mark Carney’s interview with Jon Stewart seems to me to be a soft launch bid for his candidacy:
But did he laugh weird? :ROFLMAO:
Sure, except that the “provinces vs federal govt” split is more US-style, where a state has more power than a province does in our political construct.
So she can say whatever, but if she’s actually putting AB ahead of the rest of Canada, then it’s just a different way of saying “AB wants to...
Given that most likely the CPC, which seems to represent the west more, will win the next election, which has to happen before end-October, AB striking out on its own is an…interesting choice.
If there was a shadow of a doubt that the CPC would win, maybe there is some reason for those...
Part of me really wants to say “F it” and let both crumble. Throw some nukes in for kicks.
But apparently I’m not supposed to say that in public. :sneaky:
…and a key part of science is that when new info comes up, it can throw your hypothesis out the window. You then adjust your hypotheses, or get rid of them.
They’re scientists, not prophets.

How bad is it when the original convoy organizers are trying to distance themselves from you? 🤣
One doesn’t negate the other.
Or it could be neither. Or it could be both, with other factors too. Complex things don’t usually boil down to one reason.
But a wildfire in the winter is not normal.

He looks up to “strongmen” because they also don’t care what the other party thinks.
So I’m not as optimistic as some who think it’s a negotiation tactic. His history would suggest that he doesn’t...
I pointed out the RCN App for a reason. It’s on your phone, and it is by far the easiest way to put in a leave pass compared to MM. There are a bunch of other functions too but as someone not in the RCN, I use it for the leave pass function.
I’ve told everyone in the CAF I can reach about it...
Plus his de-platforming of various MAGA folks who called him out - which, while funny watching that cat-fight, might come back to bite them.
Anyway, CBC’s “About That” had a pretty good primer on “trade deficit” vs “subsidy”, and especially about the oil sector.
Somewhat related, on a TED...
Yes and no.
If folks are working on F-35s but then writing memos for leave rather than using the RCN App (as an example), then they will also get fed up and leave.
Exactly. Not getting stuff because we’re afraid that we don’t have the staffing for it, means we’re working with older stuff.
People won’t want to join to work on older stuff. So we…don’t buy anything new. Hence continuing the spiral.
And it’s not like we’re not paying for maintenance of...
Not sure how a trade deficit with Canada counts as “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States” as per the definition of the IEEPA, but here we are.
