Sea Survival....Comox.....is it the legend true?

"There was a dream that was Comox. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile." hehehe....so any experiences to share? Suggestions? I wasn't able to find much in terms of nightlife: The Edge Pub This popular pub boasts a spectacular view of...

    Air Force

You wanna be a pilot in the CF, here's what you do: 1. Do well in high school. You need good grades to get into a solid university program. 2. Apply to a university with an Aviation degree (or something of the sort). For example, Western University has a Commercial Aviation Management Program...

Forced to pay / belong to a mess [Merged]

My first mes dinner's coming up this week. I dished out $800 for my mess kit+accessories and even though I look like a hotel bellhop/figure skater, I think it'll be a good time. Seriously though, $800 can get you some pimpin outfits  ;)

Getting a ride on a CF Airbus?

I heard somewhere that it's possible for myself (2Lt on OJT) to hitch a ride on a CF Airbus somewhere in North America or Europe....is that possible? How exactly would I go about "reserving" a spot for myself?

    Legalized Prostitution

You hang around Montreal long enough, you'll notice just how big the sex trade is. May not be "legal", but the police sure turn a blind eye to certain obvious establishments.

What should I do during OJT?

So much for doing nothing at OJT!!! Here's what I just found out today: 1. I'm being sent to Florida in 2 weeks to test out a new flight simulator for the Griffon. 2. Two weeks after Florida, I'm going to Gagetown to try their sims and maybe fly in Griffons. 3. A Colonel on my base just got...

What should I do during OJT?

Great advice guys, thanks! I'm making up a plan right now outlining what I want to accomplish before going to Portage. Get some flight hours, riding on a Herc(maybe go overseas?) and Griffon, and  OPME's, are the top priorities right now. I still can't get over the freedom you have on OJT...

What should I do during OJT?

Zoomie, I've been exempted from language school and I'm posted at Kingston. Haggis, Believe me, PT is the only thing keeping me sane. Weightlifting 4-5 times/week + hockey and soccer. I guess I could buy a flight training book (From the Ground Up?) and become more familiar with what's to come.

What should I do during OJT?

Hey guys, I've been on OJT for 2 weeks now and, from what I've seen so far, I'm not expected to do much. My security clearance hasn't gone through yet so I'm basically limited to surfing the net and giving occasional PC advice  ::). Given the laid back atmosphere at work, I feel that the next...

    Kingston thread - merged

Well, I just completed IAP/BOTP, bypassed SLT, and am now being posted to 1 Wing for OJT. I decided to stay in single quarters on base (C46... similar to the rooms in St. Jean?) and they're charging $238/month for quarters and $397 for rations. Not too bad. I was wondering if anyone else has...

    How to prepare for IAP/BOTP

Thanks man. Yeah, your suggestions helped me alot, especially the headlamp!! I have to admit though, boot camp was not quite what I expected. Not enough physical training IMO. WAY too much emphasis on cleanliness of rooms!!! I got jacked up once for having one Q-tip in my garbage can (for those...

    How to prepare for IAP/BOTP

Just thought of something else: For Farnham, buy a headlamp. It's good to have both hands free. For IAP/BOTP, bring something that will make your stay more enjoyable such as a laptop, MP3 player, etc.

    How to prepare for IAP/BOTP

Well, the time has come for me to give something back to this great forum! I recently completed IAP/BOTP and I'm being posted to Kingston for OJT (my trade is pilot and I passed the SLT test). I'll cover the three important stages of boot camp: 1) IAP 2) BOTP 3) Farnham So, let's get into it...

Do they issue swimming trunks at basic or would I have to bring my own?

I'm 24 and continuing to work full time until 4 days before BOTC. I work 40 hours/week so, yeah, I can see how time is in my favor. I don't want to pry into your personal life man, but is 80 hours/week really necessary for a 20 year old? I can understand if you're supporting a family...

Do they issue swimming trunks at basic or would I have to bring my own?

No offense Fry, but I don't think "lack of time" is a good excuse for showing up out of shape. The entire recruiting process should have given you more than enough time to arrange some kind of training schedule. 30 minutes a day, 3-4 times a week is really all it takes. You telling me you can't...
