    Navy to consider gender-neutral ranks

We have to start with the basics;  the term "huMAN being" is so  offensive!    :waiting:

Royal Canadian Navy, coast guard short hundreds of sailors

I defy anyone to show a rational fiscal  reason for reopening CMR, yet it occurred.  If this COA had a similarly ardent/connected campaigner as CMR had, expenses may magically become a minor irritant for VDQ expansion. Focus on the operational requirements -- you know, patrolling the St...

Canadian Army reactivates elite Assault Pioneers unit

 Not necessarily a pretty bunch, but definitely useful.  :pop:

… but read it along with Rich Gimblett's Dissension in the ranks: the ‘mutinies’ that never were.

    New Ontario Government 2018

Yes, I understand that some people fail regardless (Most people in the military have a vague understanding of the instructional business).  I also understand that family connections to the issue may cause a dismissive, but unwarranted, response. The potential perception remains nonetheless.

So if students miss a whole bunch of school and everyone still graduates, would people be amiss in believing that there is significant fluff in the curriculum and that maybe teachers don't deserve more?    Staff edit: hit modify instead of quote

Ahh... if only the ghost of Sir Percy Girouard was around. (Google him;  I'll wait.  He did OK running railroads... for an RMC guy  ;D )

    CPC Leadership Discussion 2020-21

Mostly agree.  However, the system we're currently using can't just be wished away;  nation-wide parties have always had to contend with differing regional/local priorities.  I have no magic solution.  :dunno:

    Dead at 68: Christie Blatchford

She wasn't blindly loyal to the CAF;  if she saw stupid, she'd call it. I got to be media point-of-contact during a troubling period* and she was amazing (the other journalist out of Toronto -- who, as near as I can tell never actually left Toronto or even phoned anyone -- just stole oxygen and...

    CPC Leadership Discussion 2020-21

I don't imagine we'll be seeing her in Parliament. Another addition to the disarray of the Conservatives, ignoring the moderate centrist voters by appealing to the further right, which tends to only bleed off votes to the Libs/NDP (or abstain).  :not-again:         :2c:

    CPC Leadership Discussion 2020-21

On some other sites I follow, there's a lot of anger towards MacKay from Conservative party members, who seem willing to lose another election rather than having "him" ('MacKay,' said with a sneer) as leader.  Can you say "self-inflicted wound"?

8 Jan 2020: UKR Airliner shot down in Tehran

I think the Conservatives may be confused.    ??? A.  The Magnitsky Act (2012) is an American law, not Canadian. B.  It applies to human rights violations, not criminal acts (like obstructing an investigation)  [although Trump expanded its applicability via one of his Executive Orders in 2017...
