"Tourniquet NOW! Strap"TM by Blue Force Gear

Good idea. I've carried my TQs in the same way, just using two bands of tire innertube looped through the PALs.

    Skydex Blast Protection

If the CF helmet suspension offers superior protection, have the CF units that have been issued other helmets (TC2001, TC2002, etc) retrofitted them with CF style suspension?

ACOG - Need help finding one in Canada

If they ship to Canada without an export permit they are breaking the law and subject to a huge fine.  ACOGs are available through Canadian dealers.

Night Vision setting on an EOTECH 552

Night vision settings on CCO optics are just dimmer light that is not as visible during daylight. They will be visible through your PVS14 if for some reason you wanted to mount it behind your optic. Eotechs with the green reticle switch are airsoft knockoffs, not real optics.

Hillier says Forces in 'war for talent' to boost ranks - CP

What are the costs associated with recruiting, basic training, trades training, QL4s, workup trg, etc he takes in his first three years? When someone releases you lose all of that, plus their experience. $100k is just a number I threw out, I'm sure a much smaller amount would entice some to...

Hillier says Forces in 'war for talent' to boost ranks - CP

Why are there not retention bonuses for EVERY trade? Could you not give an infantry Pte whos basic engagement is up $100,000 and still come out ahead?

Troops carrying pistols outside the gate

Put front site post in a vice, hit slide with hammer. Front site gone, stake in new front sight (need special tool). Drift out rear sight with brass hammer, slide in new rear.  You could do the same to put factory sights back on later but you'd ruin the tritium front when you remove it.

Troops carrying pistols outside the gate

Good reason to have the rifle attached to your body.

TCCC Shoulder Bag aka The Med Murse

Just a point about field dressings, they are convenient but I wouldnt carry too many of them. Curlex and ace wraps take up less space and are more versatile than a field dressing. Good looking bag though, seems to fit the role.

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

The average soldier has no need for two secondary weapons, but I'm sure it was just a miscommunication and he meant spare pistol magazines. There are reasons to carry two handguns in some scenarios but they have nothing to do with conventional operations.

    Mortars: 51 mm, 60 mm, 81 mm, 120 mm & more

While the kill radius on the 60mm is small, I have seen it used effectively on friendlies resulting in several KIAs. A small mortar certainly has a place. Where I6 and I were a while ago there were poor lines of sight due to the built up area. If we stuck around there I had 2 bipod 60s and 1...

Troops carrying pistols outside the gate

The myth is so widespread it was even countered by an article in American Handgunner (?) a few years ago.

Troops carrying pistols outside the gate

I actually overhead a conversation between several Aussie officers at the Victory Cinnabon a few months ago. One officer with a put on Etonian/Aussie accent was commenting on how logistics could be greatly streamlined if they just removed the pistols from those who "don't need them" such as the...

    Is that an ELCAN?

Since we've already established that it's OBVIOUSLY not a C79 (have you been around US troops in the last several years?!), you are the one pulling straw out of your ass.

Hk21A1 - the SAW with some class...

That's reinforced reciever rails to strengthen the reciever. They are an upgrade to the HK21 due to higher round count guns having thier recievers crack over time.

You were taught wrong. Your pistol should stay in your dominant hand.

    Safariland 6004 BHP, Holster Mod

The reason people don't carry thier weapons readied is because they are afraid of them. How are you going to know in advance if you need your secondary to be ready?  There should be only one condition of carry outside the wire, round in the chamber, hammer back, weapon on safe.
