AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

You know what grinds my gears?  The term “Joint Support Ship”. These are not JSS vessels, they are nothing more than Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment vessels.  Might as well call our frigates, helicopter carriers..

Canada, Australia to send military aircraft to monitor North Korean ships

How long before the bloat creeps in? 40 crew det, I’m sure we can turn this into a full blown 250 personnel det.

Upcoming Changes to the Dress Manual

I agree.  I don’t see how someone can be ordered to buy required kit.  Perhaps back when we were getting $17 a month in clothing upkeep, but not now. I keep hearing about young kids in their poor financial decisions, but yet we are ordering these same young kids (officers) to purchase mess...

University Training Plan NCM (UTPNCM) 2005 - 2018 [Merged]

My CFR offer was on the street on Mar 27th.    I know it’s a different program, but don’t they originate from the same office?  :dunno: Good luck!

Defence Learning Network ( DLN )

Yes. The NCI Op performs ESM duties on the Sub, but I do believe this due to crew limitations.  The FC radar (NES Op) and Surveillance radar (NCI Op) are two completely different beasts.

Defence Learning Network ( DLN )

NCI Op does the radar work. NES Op is ESM.

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

Having the Govt card is a blessing.  I never have to worry about an advance and I never have to worry about my budget at home being affected by military travel. Last minute travel (which happens quite frequently) is never an issue for me.

    East Timor Research

I was on Pro as an AB Navcomm, I have a CD with a bunch of photos on it kicking around somewhere. Great trip, nothing but great memories. If I find it, I'll let you know.

14 Wing flips the switch for barracks wifi

Greenwood had both in BB3, which was torn down to make room for the new hospital.

Canada rejoins NATO Airborne Warning and Control System program

Good to know.  It is extremely disappointing and demotivating when it comes to news like this.  Does anyone know if there is an appetite to get Canadian aircrew (not this year) back in the NATO AWACS?  Or are we just going to throw $$$ at the program.  Was there a posting for an ACSO within...

Canada rejoins NATO Airborne Warning and Control System program

You are probably the only unit to send a name up. Funny how the school seems to be sending folks first to Sig and now Creech.  🤔

Canada rejoins NATO Airborne Warning and Control System program

Come on EITS! We have dry AES Ops in Poland, Sig and a new OUTCAN posting to Creech AFB.. Try being a wettie, our options are crap! I’m glad Canada is getting back in the AWACS game.

HMCS Chicoutimi at sea off Korea, CBC story

I know who does SIGINT, I’m also aware that SIGINT can be performed using the simple pieces of kit.  You could use a Motorola PTT from Canadian Tire if you wanted to. SIGINT/COMINT/ELINT are areas in which we are severely lacking in the CAF.  The point I was trying to make was that if we aren’t...

HMCS Chicoutimi at sea off Korea, CBC story

SIGINT?  I doubt it.  They don’t even have a NESOP onboard.  At least they didn’t when I was on boats.  Your average radar detector in your car is probably more complicated than the ESM suite on the Victoria class.. As for the silent service bit, I had always assumed that it was because we...

MATA and PATA ( Parental Leave )

I always thought “imperative” meant that it was only something you and you only could do. If the Op/Mission/task would fail without your presence, then I’d say that’s imperative (IMHO). I’ve never seen a career course trump parental leave. You can be recalled off parental leave for stuff...

    AESOp ( MOC 081)

I realize there is a little more to it than moving the camera with a stick.  However, I do find that many NASOs like to wander into the weeds. When I hear of ASOs being weak on EO I place the blame on the leads and Sqns (ASO B cats also need to be proactive, a Pte may be intimidated, but a...

    AESOp ( MOC 081)

Still though, they are flying in Winnipeg and operating different sensors than the PCT.  There are plans to add EO, but I feel the money spent on that could be better spent elsewhere.  EO is an extremely simple sensor and doesn’t require much training.  I know the dry team loves their trivia...

    AESOp ( MOC 081)

How about a common sense eye. Blow up Winnipeg and move everything to ZX.    Or not fly them in Winnipeg at all.  Ensuring people are sent to the MOAT/OTU in a timely manner. Everyone seems to be running in 3 different directions.

Sea Kings bid farewell to Nova Scotia

You need a posting to YQQ.  Nothing beats working on the range with our MH comerades. Surely we can get more creative in our CASEX’s though, there’s nothing saying we can’t both beat up on one of our subs off the NS coast.
