Maybe we are getting hung up in trying to designate the AOPS as a specific type of ship and trying to shoehorn traditional capabilities  of destroyers/frigates/etc where this is no need to do so. I think like the USNs LCS, the RCN is slowly creating a new vessel type thats is all together...

The German ships don't lack for crew comforts....trust me.

Thank you for the clarifications, RC. So RC just to confirm, unlike what STONEY has alluded to, the AOPS does have the capability to have a multi role function but in doing so would lessen its utility as an arctic patrol vessel?

They also have  around 35 A4s and around the same number of Pucaras that they use in the ground attack role that may be able to take out the RAF facilities in the FI.

Sadly though the 4 Typhoons they usually have there won't be enough to take on the the entire Fuerza Aérea Argentina without timely reinforcement

Without the Harriers and carriers I think the Brits would not be successful in another go with Argentina.

Sadly, they are anything but warships....maybe enhanced surveillance sovereignty cutters.

I wonder if there has been any discussion in using the AOPS as a common hull for other ship types. For example could it be used to design a small LPD, AOR or support vessel? Just musing....

True but do you not practice Sonar Quiet states like we do on CPFs and 280s? I realize a tanker is inherently noiser then a frigate but I still think they would try and build an AOR with some sort of countermeasures. They are the HVUs after all. ;)

Would this bubble machine not make more noise allowing an AOR (and its escorts) to be detected at an even greater range?
