Man allegedly intended to bomb military base - Toronto Sun

I'm surprised this didn't create more of a stir....

    Debating Commissioning

I'll throw a nickle into the conversation... I was a former Combat Engineer WO, and was commissioned to Lt at the age of 33. I field many questions on the topic similar to yours, so i'll contribute in an effort to help you and anyone else considering this. This is the view from my rose coloured...

Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat - Excess CF Sr Leadership, Public Servants and Contractors

I couldn't agree more....  This is a policy that deserves as much scrutiny as the whole GOFO issue. Nearly worthy of a Topic Split :) Minor sidetrack: In the current (broken) context, I find it odd that policy states that a CFR Lt does not enter promotion zone within the same timelines as a...

looking for opinions about Heavy Equipment Operating in the C.Engineers

Your enthusiasm is encouraging, but if you are 100% committed to joining the CF as a Combat Engineer, i'd reconsider spending large sums of money formalizing your Heavy Eqpt quals. The fact is (someone chime in if things have changed lately), sadly, most civilian quals are not directly...

    Todays Engineer

Forgive my ignorance as i'm not aware of what your current education background is, but I can assure you that the career path and training of an NCM (Cbt Engr) is not designed to provide a degree downstream. Some have managed to get an Engineering Technology Diploma, but there were many other...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

Like the old saying "Careful what you wish for......" :) Its a bit of a strange dynamic when the "Lt" is one of the oldest guys in the Troop, but at least no one is getting me with the old "Pressure Gauge for the Road Wheel, Box of Grid Squares, Squelch Fluid" routine ;)

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

What MOC was that? As a former WO, I ended up doing the 2Lt followed by Lt in the same day. Going from being a 043 WO to 24A Lt, I am required to do 3 years in Rank before promotion to Capt. Mind you the Lt "E" Pay Scale isn't exactly a boot in the junk, but the YO thing gets old quick.

4 CER Germany Guys, I need some help with a Jeep restoration.....

Did the Tac Signs go below the Sqn level? Reason I ask, is while at 2 CER, and when they actually still marked vehicles, I never saw any Tac Signs that went below the Sqn level. I slammed one together based on my memory bank of what 23 Fd Sqn had on all its vehicles. I actually had to paint...

4 CER Germany Guys, I need some help with a Jeep restoration.....

I've been through the Base Museum and all over their M151A2, but it never even crossed my mind to check out the CME Museum. I'll have to make the trek over one of these days.

4 CER Germany Guys, I need some help with a Jeep restoration.....

Heres a few snaps of its current status. Still a long way to go, but these things are dead simple to work on.

4 CER Germany Guys, I need some help with a Jeep restoration.....

Again, excellent info. Although the C/S all pretty much translate with todays Regts (except 4 ESR for some strange reason), i'm glad to be clear on it. Looks like i'll go with Park Tp Comd for this. I've attached a pic that shows Cam Patterns and markings from 4 CMBG. If you don't mind, having...

4 CER Germany Guys, I need some help with a Jeep restoration.....

Kat, perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Just need to confirm Call Signs. Was 4 CER the same as the rest of the Engr Units (41, 45, 48 etc) for Sqn numbering? I'd imagine Park Tp would be a good candidate..... Scotty

4 CER Germany Guys, I need some help with a Jeep restoration.....

Doesn't have to be Engr specific. Any M151A2 from the era would be great as it will help nail down some details like paint, markings and kit configuration. It's very hard to find photos of these things. As it stands, after 2 years I've only managed to find around a dozen, many very distant in...

4 CER Germany Guys, I need some help with a Jeep restoration.....

Fellas, I'm restoring a Canadian M151A2 1/4 Ton, aka, "74 Pattern Jeep", "Roll-over Jeep", "Throwaway Jeep", "Disposable Jeep", "MUTT"... ie, the other Jeep before the Iltis, not the Willys M38A1 Jeep. These would have been in use from 1974 until 1987ish when the Iltis came into the system...

You know you are past your expiriy date...

    - When the Info Board at the Entrance to the Base QM was more likely to tell you what was "In Stock". - Kit DAG for Africa consisted of a 2 Quart Canteen. - Radios were "CAUTION: Two Man Lift" and located in the furthest spot away from the opening in the vehicle. - Siphoning Fuel out of "Dead...

Opps, I should have posted something up. I have since found an M416 Trailer and some Iltis rubber to get me past annual MVIs. Thanks

I'm restoring an old 403 Sqn Vehicle. I have some questions....

Actually, now that you mention it Loachman, this may have been a 422 asset originally, if 422 folded into 403. I've seen a few other examples in EDR Viewer where when a UIC has been removed/stood down etc, the system will default to the next most current UIC or nearest ASU that the DA would have...

I'm restoring an old 403 Sqn Vehicle. I have some questions....

Thanks for the tip NFLD Spr.... I've already Wiki'd and checked the Air Force Website for details on the Unit itself :D When I initially put this thing back together, I just slapped 22 Fd Sqn Tac Signs etc on it, as it I know what an Engr Sqn Veh should be equipped with and how to correctly...

I'm restoring an old 403 Sqn Vehicle. I have some questions....

Delivered new in 1974, serving until approx 1987 when it was scrapped and replaced by an Iltis. I pulled all the info I could find from the EDR Viewer. Quite a bit of info still available. Surprisingly, it spent its entire career with 403 Sqn. Gently used too, only 26K on the Odometer.  The...
