The Defence Department and the Canadian Army are looking at the CV90 as a possible...
It's interesting to note the Army is moving to ABGs in contrast to their intentions of transforming towards OBGs stated in last year's report.
It looks like the Family of Land Combat Systems is ramping up to be a pretty large capital project...
Where I am baffled by this is in the hypocrisy of how we can snub our noses at China on the grounds of a shotty human rights record and then get all cozy with India and just overlook the attrocities committed by Indian military and paramilitary forces in Kashmir (not the sweater). While India...

Not a huge news item, but interesting nonetheless. This is the first time I've seen a Canadian defence company buyout a foreign one.
Just to comment a bit about fleet size. In Appendix E on the ADM Mat site for MHLH it lays out the requirements for # of chinooks required to carry out operations. It appears the project staff envision three purchasing options the CF can undertake in accordance with CF transformation:
Option 1...
Yeah IMO this land will more than likely be land set aside for the pending arrival of JTF 2 and possibly other infrastructure upgrades to support the C-17s and such.
Try "Canada in Afghanistan: the war so far". Gives an overview of Canadian involvement there as well as a thorough history of the Afghan people and the culture you will be interacting with.
Bringing up an old thread, I too read this awhile back. Wasn't overly impressed, especially with the lack of real detail on Canadian action. Any person even reasonably educated in Canada's involvement in Afghanistan won't learn a whole lot from this book. I did, however, find the historical...
Seen it. I was skeptical going into it, thinking that it would end up being some movie writer's one-sided views on world affairs but I was pleasently surprised to find a number of different viewpoints to the same story. I enjoyed it and felt personally connected to the storyline.
Why? I've read both CSA-105's and Infanteer's posts introducing the topic. I've also read the Army Journal topic Infanteer referenced. Perhaps you don't understand the concept...?
EDIT: I see in Infanteer's referenced article it doesn't talk about the inf battalion expansion, I had a brainfart...
I agree, I think Infanteer is right on the mark. This is what I've been supporting for some time, form BGs around infantry battalions with other combat arms and combat support units providing sub-units to support them. Now do you really need to get rid of those unit RHQs instead of having tasked...
There's no such thing as starting too late. Physicians recommend seniors start weight training as it counters against the whithering away of muscles. If anything, be cautious on how early you start. I started dicking around in the gym when I was about 14, and then started going all out around...
