Mech infantry or all light infantry with some Armd APC units?

But should we not maintain APV-equipped light forces that can revert back to their original role if required? If Nyala isn't working, what about other alternatives? British employ their Saxons in a few of their mechanized infantry battalions: http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/av/av_sxn.htm...

Mech infantry or all light infantry with some Armd APC units?

Well geese HS I was just about to go get high! But there's a problem...Steve French pooped in the LAV... I don't know I disagree. Mechanized forces can do things that light forces cannot do and vice versa. In Baaz Tsuka, a Company Group was used in real mechanized warfare and that job probably...

Mech infantry or all light infantry with some Armd APC units?

Wow...here's a crazy idea...keep the 6 mech battalions and 3 light battalions untouched and as force expansion progresses in the coming years stand up 3 more light battlions. 12 battlions. 6 mech and 6 light. Fits pretty well into the 3 year managed readiness cycle of having 2 task forces ready...

The Former CFB Chilliwack - Whats Happening

Was there just yesterday, just to take a peak. It's a shame, from what I saw of it, it was a nice base. Wasn't huge, but it had a nice feel to it. Are you referring to SITE C? It's still there, in use by the reserves and cadet units.

    When will we stop digging?

Yes...so granted they won't be experts in the realm of international relations. I was just really taken aback by their ignorance towards the topic; like I said stated before these are post-secondary students yet they still view the outside world with their heads halfway up their a$$ not unlike...

    When will we stop digging?

I've seen this first hand, with at least one of my past poli sci profs sharing the same type of mentality that's being discussed. The lovely part of it is that he wasn't exactly reserved in his comments about the topic, and that's irresponsible when you're helping to mold future leaders. You...

    When will we stop digging?

In my International Relations class today, my prof asked a rather broad overhead question of how international poltics affects us. Naturally, Iraq and Afghanistan was lunged to the forefront of the discussion fairly quickly. A student argued how Canada should not "follow in the footsteps" of...

    CSOR in Army news

Fair enough. I don't believe my statement was entirely inaccurate, in fact I believe it is fairly common knowledge; this is the only reason why I pointed it out. That being said, I was out of my lane and will refrain from making such posts in the future.

    CSOR in Army news

Missed that last video. There's also the very first, and very detailed, video that introduces the creation of CSOR, although it's link has already been posted acouple of times on this forum. CSOR - U.S. Army Rangers Cdn Ab Rgt - parachute-capable light force That's a simplistic analogy but...

About Turn! Time to Revise Canada’s Foreign Policy

Good read, some very interesting ideas. I especially find interesting the proposal to use the 'coalition of democracies' in the initial combat operation while less capable militaries take over the traditional peacekeeping duties. Most people tend to share the same view towards India as the...

USASF as in Green Berets? Devil's Brigade and SF share different roles - maybe the 75th Rgr Rgt would appear to be a more likely unit for the lineage of the Devil's Brigade. Does anyone know what the Special Operations Assaulter skill badge looks like?  ;D You've got me thinking about it, now...

Care to enlighten as to what it looks like (modified jump wings)? I read in a news article that the Devil's Brigade was named the official lingeage unit of JTF-2, can't speak for the other units in CANSOFCOM. Although, since CANSOFCOM and 1st Special Service Force are/were both formations...
