I agree with that. Big city lights and siren driving, to me, is to use them to get people to get out of your way, not drive along at ludicrous speeds hoping everybody has seen and heard you. Most drivers are oblivious, and most vehicles so soundproofed they can't hear your siren even if they are...
And again we fall into the issue of not being able to impose a solution on them, but every attempt to help being looked at with a justifiably jaded point of view.
I suspect there would be even more significant difficulties in recruiting for and establishing such a force, given it would almost certainly have to start under the supervision and mentorship of the RCMP, which has it's own baggage as far as relations with Indigenous peoples.
I hope wholeheartedly that what you have to say is true.
I strongly believe there is a balance to be struck between the benefits of the RCMP, national standardization etc of the Police forces and the local touch municipal forces bring to the table.
EDIT: Grammar
He went elsewhere, having listened to the recruiter and was hired by a Muni on his first attempt.
That was my understanding having spoken to this facilitator. No troop would go ahead unless the make up was meeting the desired numbers for diversity.
I agree with you, because I made it through...
I'll generally agree, but I also have first hand info from a former colleague of mine where a family friend's son, who would be the third generation of RCMP from that family and who has catered his entire young adult life to a job with the force was straight up told by an unnamed E Division...

Langley homeless community 'living in fear' after deadly shooting, says advocate
The report spends an awful lot of time talking about the RCMP's failures, and no time talking about how the politicians who held the purse strings that could have paid for all of those capabilities refused to spend that money on the RCMP.
The RCMP owns some blame for not doing more to secure...
Amazing how quickly we went from "the Police are all racist thugs, the people they deal with are all victims and you can't believe a word out of their (police) mouths" to "huh, maybe they weren't the problem all along".
Even more telling of where this Government is headed is the fact I Googled the exact title of this news story so I could forward it on to some friends and there wasn't a single Canadian news story with regard to Hong or the allegations shown to me by Google. A handful of completely unrelated...
