    Name that badge? (CSOR related?)

Possibly: The Governor General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, is pleased to advise, as Commander-in-Chief of Canada, that the following insignia have been approved, as entered in the Public Register of Arms, Flags and Badges of Canada (Volume, page): -Special Operations...

    Name that badge? (CSOR related?)

Noticed this MWO wearing an interesting badge on his left pocket, below his commendations. Does anyone know what it is? Possibly some sort of qualification badge related to CSOR?

    Queen's Diamond Jubilee Super Thread

It amazing how much emotion medals can stir up, especially the commemorative variety. The QDJM saga isn't new and there's no shortage of opinions relating to the distro of the QSJM (which was basically the COs discretion?) the the QGJM (which relied on a time in rank excel spreadsheet...

    Queen's Diamond Jubilee Super Thread

Yea, 31 Oct was the date that I was given. Hopefully it doesn't change, but if they made a RCAF wide decision to push the date then I suppose I'm at the mercy of the others. It's too bad about the Libya medal, many people are disappointed not to get a "Canadian" medal (GCS/GSM/OSM,etc) , and...

16 Oct 12: CBSA officer shot @ Peace Arch B.C. crossing

Speedy recovery for the officer, oddly enough the federal government opened a new CBSA training facility to better train (and arm) border officials. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/media/release-communique/2012/2012-10-15-eng.html

CinC Unit Citation Award pin placement change?

Thanks for the quick and informative reply. So, technically those who wear the CinC Unit Commendation pin on the right side, only sport it while a member of the unit that has previously been awarded. Once posted out, they remove it? Those who were part of the unit when the events for which the...

CinC Unit Citation Award pin placement change?

So, this is random. Today I saw an Army Lt Col wearing a CinC Unit Commendation pin on the right pocket flap of his tunic. (The pin was actually positioned on the inwards side of the right flap with the War of 1812 Commemorative pin on the opposite side of the same pocket flap.) Has there been...

    DUI/impaired driving in CF (merged)

What about a 24hour roadside licence suspension?  Would that require involvement by the CoC, or does it fall into the speeding ticket/parking ticket category?

    Benefits Cut...

The grass is always greener on the other side eh? I have a good friend who left the CF as a Cpl for a job with the OPP. While he did make in excess of 100k last year after overtime, he regrets leaving the CF for a numbers of reasons. Bottom line, money isn't everything.  Go read some of the...

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

I recommend you bring along some basic school supplies. A notebook, pens, pencils, loose leaf sheets, etc. I'm unsure what RMC/CMR does for supplies theses day, but a few years ago they would issue you a Staples $100 gift card for you to buy your own. While nearly every student will have a...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Check out the Forces recruiting website for starters and then do some searches on this forum if you want to get a better sense of the entry, selection and training requirements. At 25, you wont have to worry about your age for entry into the pilot trade. The biggest factor will be your medical...

Member of Ceremonial Guard Wounded by Bayonet

I didn't realize that the Ottawa citizen posted a video of the incident as well. Pretty intense to say the least.

Well, it is a major tourist spectacle and I'm sure there was even a few people who thought is was "part of the act." Just a thought.

Member of Ceremonial Guard Wounded by Bayonet

Unbelievable! Hope he'll have a speedy recovery. Over the years a few RMC cadets been impaled as they passed out, but this particular incident seems to be pretty serious.
