Had a friend in the Militia who went to the regs as a medic. He was an Inf MCpl. Was also a paramedic with courses up the wazoo. Got treated like crap because he was a Private. Out qualified his Sgts in both military and civilian courses. Got treated like shit by posers who had the rank but no...
I agree with you. I should have said it better earlier but it's the troops and officers who "have a job where something happens" i.e. blue collar. Not sure how to describe it. But as you said, doctors nurses pilots etc. are where it is a problem. We get trampled by the empire builders.
Been out 6 months, Joined in 83. Worked at the highest levels of the Army. 2 of my PERs were signed by a LGen. I am an educated plug in reality but have lots of conversations with Generals at all levels. Being a bit cryptic as I dont really want to have people know who I am. I can do that in...
Yup. Same problem. slash and burn. Girlfriend works in the public service., her bitterness makes me look sweet. Bureaucracies make problems in how things get completed by red tape etc. It has got so bad that projects can't get completed.
"Where you see careerism I see retention, which is a massive man power problem."
We dont have a retention problem with officers, we have problems keeping troops. You guys are going to have to give up on your careers and empire building and put it on hold until it's cleaned up. Troops are...
Apparently FJAG writes and thinks much better than me (quel Suprise). He is totally right about what needs to be done and I think it has to be drastic or it wont happen, hence my comment about making the CDS a Colonel.
My regiment decided that my MCpl in the Battery was needed elsewhere so I...
Yes I am testy, because no one seems to think we should change how things are done. You are all worried about your careers and promotions and not about having a capable fighting force. As Kevin said above, look at the number of GOFOs we have. it's ludicrous. Until we have at least one full...
I have had Cpls and Mcpls working FOR me when I was a Cpl. I was senior and in the position. I was a Company Quartermaster SERGEANT as a Cpl. I was given the authority by the CSM, No one had a problem. Why can it work for troops and not officers?
Lt Chard and Lt Bromhead at Rorkes Drift.
"What’s your solutions for a 450 person infantry Bn, probably a Lt Col I assume? And if we group several of those together surely a Col commands it? You’re taking your experiences from a small reserve unit and attempting to apply it globally across the CAF. That’s simply not the case."
It was...
"I remember when 3 Cdn Space Div was formed and people were wondering why 200 folks needed a BGen as Comd. Well, bc the job isn’t person-intensive but the effect and cost of those systems is orders of magnitude greater than the typical combat arms unit or ship’s company."
I was a gunplumer with...
Last time i checked lower ranks mean lower pay. Use the extra money to buy bullets and gas. And yes, I know all about different budgets and all that but fu*k this if we cant fix it then disband the whole s**thole.
Thats how we get into this mess
Give me a good reason why?
I knew Australia was getting worse but not that bad. Saying that, how many tanks and aircraft do they have compared to us? A LOT MORE.
All militaries are doing this and all are getting bad, should it continue or should we get efficient?
