    The War in Ukraine

Very odd - considering Trump just agreed to add more sanctions to Russia (Congress flexing some muscles). The current White House Administration seems to have a left and right hand, that are not controlled by the same personality...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

No idea, the USAF doesn't fly them currently, and I have zero visibility on what other nations do for that. USAF in the E-3's and USN in the E-2's so I would assume it would continue to be a USAF crew - other than potentially some Space Force personnel due to the overlap.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

E7 is coming as Congress wants it, and doesn't have the same faith in Space Based Assets and the E-2 that the USAF pitched. The E7 offers a massive potential beyond what can be done on a MQ-9.

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

To me the Reg Force should be at 100% (min) War time manning all of the time, from units to schools and staff. I think it is farcical to use the PRes as a bandaid to a broken system. Permanent Class B should be eliminated. To me the PRes should emulate the ARNG down here - able to field...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

That isn't what I am saying -- what I am saying is that Canada has a glaring number of deficiencies. I would rather see Canada focus effort on domestic missiles and space based assets (Comms, ISR etc) than trying to create an industry that is already extremely competitive. Canada has a...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

20:1 against F-16 and F-15's - both of which are more capable than the Gripen. Probably 40x if being honest in a sheer numbers game - and I admit that Reg Flag isn't the end all be all - as it doesn't take in other issues (GBAD etc), which would likely make the F-35 even more skewed on...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

FIFY. To @FJAG 's point the key aspect before anything is what is the Army supposed to be, that really needs to be addressed before any equipment (etc) goes anywhere. Or you will end up with more TAPV type of issues. That is on the CCA and their staff to distill down to what is needed to...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

Lets aim for a 24 gun Reg't then. That is the Reg Force -- the PRes have zero AFV's. They are by nature light - so I would like to see those CBG's at least have a Gun Reg't each - but the ripple effect of that is even worse when looking below. Again that assumes using ALL of the PRes Arty to...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Well the difference is the Arsenal of Democracy can build an ass ton of things -- and LocMart has a Canadian subsidiary - as well as interested in a number of Canadian companies -- If all of a sudden the ballon went up -- 1) the F-35 will fair WAYYYYYYYY better than the Gripen 2) the F-35...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The F-15 EX wasn't available at the time of the tender. Quite frankly any stealth aircraft needs to be sheltered as best as one can, the F-117, the B-2, the F-22, and the B-21, the F-35 isn't an outlier in that fact. ANY modern aircraft is going to need climate controlled shelter - as some...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

Agreed, but stress modeling for stuff has come miles from what it was even 5 years ago. I’m pretty sure one could print some of the Ti sections on the chassis as well - so rather than attempt some questionable Ti welding, you could replace sections. You hate Jumpers? The 120mm mortar is...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

I really question why you think that there are any scenarios that one is going to throw Light Infantry at, that would also benefit from a MBT? If you need MBT's, you need Heavy Mech Infantry, not Light Infantry regardless of if they are walking or deriving some soft skin.

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

Agreed - and frankly I would suggest Canada use Russian frozen assets to build production lines to support Canadian, NATO and Ukrainian needs. BAE built a few at least, as they have been shooting them out west for testing. If you are building 52 cal 155mm barrels for the 109, you may as well...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

A lot of BAE products are also dual bonus -- they are used by America, but also not American. So the CAF can get the benefit of having a large supply chain, and also the GoC getting points with the elbows Up crowd saying hey - we bought British...

Quite honestly we should "accidentally" flatten something in Russia with Tomahawks -- and just say whoops, my bad.

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

BAE isn't interested in having SK 'assistance' Canada would be better of in that instance in going "all in" with BAE for the European Slush Fund - and building plants in Canada to make. M109A8 CV90 (and beyond) BsV10 M119 and M777's

AC-130 with a slew of GAU-19 turrets slaved to some sort of AD Radar and STC aiming setup.
