James... my understanding (and I could be wrong) is that if you have diagnosed sleep apnea, you don't meet the medical standard. I have been using CPAP, but I don't think it makes a difference if you do or not. Best to ask the medical people about it to be sure.
There is that spot in the application where you can indicate if you'd want your application forwarded to the RCMP as well.
Here's a question... when do they do that? I've put in a couple of applications, but have never heard anything, so I was curious how/when they share your information...
Fantastic article and articulates exactly what I've been saying to people - we need to understand WHY these things happen and how we can prevent them. Knee-jerk reactions aren't the solution.
And I'm glad the NRA is taking to the time to respond to this and didn't come out, to use a pun, "all...
Got lucky and had my tonsillectomy last week! ;D My surgeon got a cancellation and they were able to fit me in! Breathing while sleeping seems to feel better already. Still would like to lose another 20 pounds as well. After that, I want to look into having another sleep study. I'm hoping...
Another update, got my surgery booked... for next week! Originally it was supposed to be at the end of January, but a cancellation bumped me up. Unfortunately, since its close to end of 2012, I was told my file was being closed for now and asked to refile my application next year. Still with...
Just want to be sure what CROSSCHECK actually means. From doing some reading online, I take this as meaning you set your aircraft to a certain speed, altitude, etc and rechecking the instrumentation to ensure that those settings are correct? Thanks!
I'm in the middle of the process. I've done CFAT, interview and medical. Right now held up on medical, due to my sleep apnea. I've been losing weight and having tonsils out at some point. Waiting for a surgery date. After that, new sleep study to see if I have beaten down the apnea. If not...
Well, I saw the specialist the other day. Will be getting tonsils out and both him and my family doctor would like to see me lose another 20-25 pounds. Once I get the surgery done, I'll get the apnea reevaluated. At most, could be another 6 months... grrrr. But I'm on the cancellation list, so...
You don't get a service number until you write your CFAT. When I did mine, they wrote it on a piece of paper as we needed it for the computers we were using. The Corporal running the test said to keep that handy.
If you should ever have to resubmit your application, as I did, you will get an...
What a lot of these guys have said already. I found out the long way that it sucks to have a "needy" wife/girlfriend. Especially one that puts limits on you. If she thinks she can do that on your career aspirations, think about what she could do day to day. Seriously NOT worth it. If I had...
Thanks Jim! People who still cry over the Arrow really haven't delved deeply into the subject. It was a reason I tackled it. I wanted to know if all the talk of greatness and woe were justified. Whenever I get the chance, I try to educate the students I meet on it. Even amongst some teens...
THIS. For a major third year term paper, I did an essay on the Arrow. The above is one of the many reasons it didn't work out. Nostalgia aside, technically, it WAS a great aircraft, but it really didn't meet all of our needs, and was rather mismanaged by Avro. They only managed about 70 hours...
Last year I was able to submit a paper copy to my local RC. This year, I was told to submit via the online process.
Anecdotal evidence I've heard says some RCs are still accepting applications directly, but it sounds few and far between.
Just do it and get it in.
And something in me says they won't be able to pull off a Conservative-type comeback. A lot of people are tauting St. Justin as their savior, but I think its a mirage.
