A word on storage, although we stored alot back here, the CF only pays for unheated storage. We had a massive mold problem on return. The subsequent drama with the insurance company lasted almost a year.
We lived in a UK PMQ (poor quality and likely small ) and if you want their 70s period...
WRT vehicles, I bought a new GM in 2001 which we thought we would take to Germany. My posting was switched to the UK, so although the steering wheel was going to be on the wrong side we still shipped it.
GM Canada were helpful getting our warranty registered with GM Overseas Corporation so...
I think you have the wrong end of the stick...the pension calculator available on line is very good but only as good as the figures you input. It gives a pretty reasonable estimation including any penalties that may apply.
If you are within 1-5 years of retiring as annuitant then go for the...
As you indicate, you can get a pension printout at the Base Orderly Room which will show your contributions to date; contributions which could be returned to you if you got out before the 10 year point.
If you are light years from becoming an annuitant I would not worry to much, but there is...
Sick of the Detainee Bullshit and the likes of Paul Dewar, Dosanjh etc.
At his last news conference which ended minutes ago Dewar offered, “does anyone in this country not think this is important”....well Dewar and co, I for one don’t.
Colvin just wanted to make a name for himself and this was...
Dapterson....totally agree...
In my utopia self licking ice creams would be gone also.
I would also bring back round trip memo's etc...and minimize computers, my list goes on :) Leaders out leading and not by virtue of Windows XP.
HQs shook up/NSEs would be thinned massively also....yes I...
Have fun with this...
I realise the thread has moved on...I started to cobble this together last night....so here is a belated post....
In answer to Dapaterson's post from last evening...not really a side issue...in essence it’s all part of the same sh_t sandwich or getting better bang for...
I imagine alot more Class Bs will be feeling the same pain come 2011. Even if we only draw down 500 or so from Afstan..some folks will be out the Reg Force backfill door.
Recceguy...agree with your closing comments to a degree.
What I would advocate given half a chance is zero Regular Force in a Reserve unit.
A reserve unit would stand or fall on its own merits as would the leadership within.
It would certainly help in any subsequent Reserve unit...
If your implying that a Reserve liability is the same as that of a Regular Force member "on this side of the pond"...the only place that is the case in clinical terms is within a conflict area.....not as easy to "just walk away" as Corps Express noted of course in relation to service; I am aware...
Not sure what you are implying here.
A Reservists remains a reservist the only difference is the type of contract... with most Class C contracts that comes with a liability not inherent in Class A and Class B service...and not as easy to walk away from.
Although certainly some reservists...
If you need any further help....just ask.
Been there done that...I switched over in April 87 after 9 years with the RE. I am still at it....Reg Force.
Well done...I echo what daftandbarmy has stated.
PM me for my e-mail if needed.
I would not buy that rig....three reasons:
Don't like the center fasteners or the profile of the shoulder snaps and limited coverage.
My preference remains with thew SORD SCS...used for one year with out problems. :salute:
WTF...short hair and PJs = converted to Islam....what do you have a crystal ball.
One thing is clear, none of us are privy to what happened here and why. Lets hope he makes it out no matter what....but things do not look good.
Here is my 6 cents..from one who was offered and did accept a commission in the CF. I spent the best part of 20 years in the ranks. I never joined thinking of becoming an officer, that did not occur until I was asked..the decision was not an easy one for me..as I my aspirations on the NCM side...
I never read into his comment any inference to a rank ceiling merely rank on commissioning. "As a Sergeant and WO you only go to Lt, it is only MWO and above that become Captains"...that is the aspect I was qualifying here.
I do do have some experience with this aspect...I went the same...
