    The Mess

Messes are more than just a bar. As PMC, I have successfully argued to reopen a mess space, sans bar IAW punishment. Units / bases utilize messes as flex spaces for meetings, townhalls, training ect...if these operations are closed, that option adds another restriction to CAF operations. I...

    WSIB in Emergency Services

While it may he easier to encourage RCMP member cooperation with this arrangement, how would PSAC members respond to this? I don't see it merging well.

Climate disasters will be part of defence update as strains grow, minister says

MGen (Ret'd) Seymour, B.F. (2023), former DCO, CJOC, argues that the CAF is only one part of the country's emergency management system, where provinces hold primary jurisdiction over their respective areas. His key argument is that the success of Op LENTUS obscures available local capabilities...

Constraining Canadian Federal Budget during Post COVID Downturn

The agreement was to split the Atlantic Veterinarian College at UPEI in Charlottetown while the Agricultural College was established in Truro, NS. It's only the past 10 years (???) that Dalhousie University absorbed the Ag College.

Directives to military chaplains urge expunging God, religion from Remembrance Day, public ceremonies

An unwritten rule for most lower deck messes, the door was always open for the Padre, no need to request permission to enter, though most did so anyway. The Padres rarely invoked rank, preferring to address sailors one-on-one. I have not observed a Social Worker extended similar courtesies.

2022 CPC Leadership Discussion: Et tu Redeux

Through the 90s, PM Chrétien's government had to clean up and institute austerity spending , non-withstanding his spending on the 1995 Quebec referendum. It can be done, it's not popular or easy.

Allowances - Post Living Differential (PLD) [MERGED]

Ah...institutional memory loss. The current version of SDA / LDA / CASDA was created to streamline the benefits, make them cheaper and simpler to administrator, and bring all three closer in alignment with each other. These forums had full discussions on the implementation and right from the...

    Big Fires Around Halifax

NS issued an Emergency Alert province wide this evening, banning all open fires--including campgrounds--until June 25. I agree restrictions are required, yet I am still asking, what is going to improve in 3.5 week's time? This is still spring , the amount of deadfall and underbrush will remain...

    Big Fires Around Halifax

I am in contact with my DEM class discussing these wildfires. My observation is that the HRM , EMO and DNR response to this wildfire is an improvement over last fall and Hurricanes Fiona. Granted, a larger concentration of people are affected with these fires, but the lessons learned and...
