Falklands vet: Vehicles what the hell do you need an isv for? In my day we yomped 56 miles and still kicked ass when we got there. You youngsters are just spoiled 😁

Because Canadians love them and no politician is willing to spend the political capital to disband them. It would be career suicide.

    Replacing the Subs

That strikes me as a quick way to piss off two crews and be left with one crew or less. I have never sailed besides as a passenger on the Marine Atlantic ferries but don't navy types have a ship identity that binds them together. If you flip them around they will not work as well together.

    Replacing the Subs

I think the new "no strings attached" plan will help with recruitment. How many people decide against military service because of the five year commitment? https://globalnews.ca/news/9595468/canada-navy-recruitment-program/amp/

If you want 6 then you make a case for 12. GOC "talks" you into accepting 6 and they are happy. Meanwhile you got exactly what you wanted. Plus then you have a reason to say no to some tastings... "if we would have bought 12 we could have done that"

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

Visible commitment at that. Navy and air force are seldom seen in news reports. TV shots of a navy ship at see could be anywhere. Aircraft on a tarmac in a neighboring country don't sell it either. People wearing the flag patrolling the streets and helping the locals sells your commitment. We...

How many RCMP are in Ontario outside of Otaawa? I have been living in the KW area 9 years and I can only remember seeing them once. Google showed me their Kitchener office which I'm embarrassed to say I didn't was there despite going to Princess auto dozens of times.

What if....A Super disaster? Impact on Canada or the world? Napkin speculation

These technocrats are successful people and for the most part they aren't stupid. They push policies that cause food and fuel prices to rise in the name of stopping climate change. They know full well the poorest of the poor will die in massive numbers from these policies. Those poorest are also...

Yes but when the fox puts on feathers and pretends to be a chicken the stupid one is the one who calls him a chicken.

20 odd years ago, shortly after I graduated HS a friend of a friend was heading to a remote posting as he just finished the RCMP academy. He explained that was normal and all recruits had to do a stint in a remote location first. He said a couple class mates were posted to more urban centers...

Are all RCMP officers in NB bilingual? Or do they have bilingual service available? Service PEI offers bilingual service but that just means that someone on duty is bilingual not everyone needs to be. I'm sure if a bilingual officer was hired they would be posted to where the need was greatest.

Yes because I was told ~75% of the RCMP are provincially tasked and the rest are federal police. I don't imagine that is split by persons as much as duties. Ottawa would still need to maintain a federal police presence. How big that would be I don't know but the current arrangement allows Ottawa...

When my son got sick and was flown to IWK I was quite amazed by how well the provinces worked together. The flight nurse was telling me they took patients from NB and PEI to Halifax daily. Children to IWK and adults to QE2. The cooperation was seemless. PEI already offers services in both...

During my time in PEI I definitely witnessed cases of "the Devil you know is better than the Devil you don't know" I personally was passed over for a job and the person who got the job was known to be a trouble maker. My best guess as to why was my "from away" surname. However maritime...

Pretty low hanging fruit, it would be really hard not to poke fun at Canada. GOC just keeps giving them the ammo.
