Hyundai and Hanwha have made up, apparently in large measure to help secure the Canadian order.

Is it really that bad? I spoke to one of the test and eval pilots at Cansec a few years ago, and his take was that is was just "different", and people had to get used to that fact. His take was that it was better in "almost" every way than the Buffalo. I realize that's the pilot's perspective...
Cautionary tale re. the cost of nuclear subs. Not surprising in the slightest. Another reason to stay far away from Pillar 1 membership.

This is interesting. Korean K9s modified for cold weather operations in Finland. Not sure where Canada sits re. wheeled versus tracked, but this looks like a solid platform. For those worried about the supply chain and inter-operability (valid concerns), the K9 is in service with several NATO...
Interesting. Vice-Admiral Topshee is visiting Hanwha.

I'm not aware of him having visited any of the other potential suppliers, but perhaps this is the beginning of a tour to do so?
This is encouraging. Two key takeaways: 1) TR3 is essentially complete, and 2) The Israelis have achieved an availability rate of 88% on their F35s.

I agree with pretty much every thing you have said about the public service, but on the issue of Canadians and their willingness to support increased spending, polling suggests they have in fact "come around":

That's awesome. Make an enemy of that big friendly country to the North. Can't argue with that kind of logic. I'm totally in favour of spending more on defence, but Jesus. That kind of rhetoric will not make it easier to sell this to the general public, who, by all accounts, are actually coming...
!986, according to this rather good analysis: DeepDive: Just how bad is Canada’s defence spending problem? Downright disastrous—with little hope in sight
Potential candidate for the CPSP: Euronaval 2024: France's Naval Group's New Blacksword Barracuda Submarine Revolutionizes Underwater Combat Stealth
Not sure how this is different from the sub the Dutch recently selected (Dutch Choose French Design For New Tomahawk-Armed Submarines), which is...
Interesting sub stuff.

Note: these are the same engines used in the KSS3 subs, of which there are 3 onboard.
Canada is a world leader in the AUV field, with several...
An interesting video on the counter UAS system recently installed aboard Asterix.
Link to the manufacturer: MARSS | NiDAR CUAS
Seems like this would be a good addition to the JSS, especially given that class of vessel has the ability to respond kinetically if the system's built-in...
Portuguese sub conducts under-ice operations. An interesting read, especially in light of what we are hearing our next generation of subs will be expected to do. Note this is hardly a state-of-the-art submarine...
Saw this parked behind a couple of the new Huskies this past weekend at Uplands. An A340, no paint, and no registration. Anyone know what this is all about?
