Aerospace Control Operator ( AC Op )

Yep.  They're pretty sought after.  And like someone mentioned, they're MCpl +. Everyone who graduates as AD from Cornwall goes to North Bay.  You gotta go your time in the Bay.

Mail and care packages sent to BMQ / BMOQ

Yep.  It was back in July. But whatever - so it is snowing in Afg right now.  The guys and girls still go to the gym.

Mail and care packages sent to BMQ / BMOQ

Besides the standard stuff already mentioned, I also included 1) Lots of Canadian paraphenalia from the dollar store - magnets, stickers, etc 2) Cigars! I get emails from them saying the cigarettes they can buy there taste like hay 3) Timmies GCs Awhile ago I sent a $10 Walmart t-shirt, and I...

Second Language Training ( SLT )

Actually, even in Quebec, pilot business is done in english.  I work in Bagotville as a weapons controller, and all the briefs/debriefs/missions, etc. are in english.  There are a couple francophone pilots, but they speak english all day long, except if they're talking to other francophones.

Language profiles will always be part of the 'points' system, and rightly so.

    Quebeckers joining the Armed Forces

Glad you had a good experience.  Mont Laurier is also quite close to Ottawa.  Travel a little further North to Chicoutimi where I am - the majority of ppl here (besides the ones on the base, of course) have never left Chicoutimi and can't fathom a world outside of what they know.  It's also...

    Quebeckers joining the Armed Forces

Hah! Tell me about it!  Had to change my plates ASAP after arriving here.  Heard too many horror stories about people having their car with Ontario plates spat on. Also warned to stay home on St Jean Baptiste, because some drunken separatists may not be too pleased with having a 'foreigner' at...

Air Force - AEC training at Cornawall

Yup, that is the plan for the future, but new IFR controllers are still being sent to the traditional places for now.

    Faire rapetisser mon beret

Air Force - AEC training at Cornawall

Sympatico, The chances of you being posted to Ottawa or Valcartier are less than 1%, and that's being generous. If you go weapons out of Cornwall, then you're heading to North Bay for another course, then either A) Staying in NB, or B) going to Cold Lake, Bagotville, or various US postings...

Cockpit recorders needed in CF-18s - military report

Agree with Max. Whenever a pilot comes down from a mission he'll watch most of the tape to get shot times, assess kill validity, and clear up anything  else that may have happened.
