    Sig Op hopefuls out there

Funny,  I have done everything in this trade except MACS or a commcen in Canada.  I have deployed as HQ staff in Rwanda, SDS in the Golan, Fwd CP in Kabul, Lt Det Comd Commcen Super in Senegal and Mission team leader for advance satillite system implementations in Kandahar.  I have worked TCCCS...

    Getting that First Hook

That's funny as we advance promoted 3 out of 14 in our troop last year and 5 in our Sqn.  I don't know how many in the Regiment as a whole.  Our CO must not have gotten the notice from the Infantry CO who sets the standard.  In case you haven't noticed, Sig Ops are getting promoted fast right...

Second Language Training ( SLT )

That is what I am talking about here.  PAT Training is training of endurance.  Sitting in Borden doing nothing is not training neither is shovelling show from sidewalks.  SLT vs PAT, I think that is a no brainer! Two tours I have had to work with the French military so I can appreciate what you...

Technically speaking, you should not get it until it has gone through the OR.  When I have gotten it by e-mail, it was a scanned copy and a link to the one on the common drive .  I forget the name of the system they have to store them but it is like Acrobat.

Second Language Training ( SLT )

Realy, two out or five missions I have been on were in French countries were negotiations were done in French and were if I had been bilingual, would have made my life that much easier.  I got by on the little French I had but still would have been a whole lot easier if I was bilingual.  This...

Bonne chance tous! 9 mois est très long!  Après 5 mission, deux mois sont long. (Soyez...

Second Language Training ( SLT )

As I have been fortunate enough to get a year long French course, I have also had time to discuss the topic of when should this course be offered to soldiers?  There are about 60 291ers taking French Trg here in Kingston with exceptional results.  Most are walking away with BBB after NP7.  The...

    Getting that First Hook

My appologies as I was looking at only the army and airforce signals training.  As stated in my earlier response, you can get credit for courses you already have if it meets trade requirements.  There are specialty programs such as the one you are talking about but they are far and few between...

    Some questions about the 291

As glendon has pointed out, your opinion of the housing in Kingston is just that, your opinion.  If he rents a place, he has to pay first and last months rent, appartments are a long ways from the base so include traveling costs, rent for the most part is slightly higher in town but you do get...

    Performance Oriented Electronic Training (POET)

Just to let you know, that is an 'intranet address' as the DIN is an intranet.

    LCIS- Kingston

This realy isn't a forum item and should only be done through e-mails.  You have given some things that people could track someone down for malise.  If you want to contact that person, give your info to someone and have that passed to him.

    SIG OP AFTER MOC

CFSCE has started to combine the courses final exercises to facilitate beter and closer to actual working environment.  It does make sence to do that.  As I have been posted to the language school with 3 people who were just working there, the info I have been getting is pretty accurate.  As for...

    Getting that First Hook

The answer is 30 months cut and dry.  It is laid out in the earlier mentioned CFAO.  This being said, if you have time in the reserves, it also depends on how much time you were credited before getting in.  Further to that, you cannot and do not enter the promotion zone until 36 mos.  Another...

    Sig Op QL4 Package...

A couple of us up in Pet when I was there tried to modify the QL 4 package but when we handed it in, the unit said it was not viable to use and that the branch did not want one.  Hopefully, it comes back.

    Our Opinion

I am neither pro or anti NDP and would ask that political battles not be hashed out here.  I believe that our soldiers have been killed and wounded because of the press that those who do not want our troops in harms way are doing just that!!  Whether that be the NDP, Liberal or joe blow from off...

    SIG OP AFTER MOC

You can probably guess were you will be going by watching the TV and asking who is next out the door for the big sandbox.  If it is Edmonton's turn, you will go to Edmonton, Pet's turn, Petawawa, etc.  You will most likely go were the military needs you not were you want to go.  Get the Bde...

    DART

If you want to deploy, you can't beat 3 Sqn with 1 Sqn a close second.  No brigade can match that.
