Notice to Aboriginal Voters: Globe and Mail Confirms Thomas Flanagan still a

Har de har har... You know what I meant - I was referring to the Native history of being mistreated, not the length of their stay (though their being here first does hold some implications, imo).

Good argument, I hadn't thought of that.

I can't believe the stupidity of this woman... http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2006/01/11/fetus-carpool2006011.html She should be fined extra for being an idiot.

Notice to Aboriginal Voters: Globe and Mail Confirms Thomas Flanagan still a

What? I was arguing against assimilation, as I would suspect most leftists would, as it was they who thought up and advanced the whole "multiculturalism" ideal.  ??? As I said, I agree that the reserve system and the alienation it produces needs to be examined and revised (if not gotten rid of...

    Guns, Gangs and Toronto

Studies? I've browsed quite a few gun control/anti-gun control stuff in the past but I've never run across anything pointing to a miraculous and spontaneous increase in crime at the exact point of gun control enactment. I could be wrong, it's not uncommon.

Manufacturing history, or did it really happen? The CBC Strikes Again ..

It's illegal to be non-cooperative when there's a summons out in your name for a court date on charges you're facing. As for the mother, that was unfortunate and the round wasn't aimed at her but at one of the armed boys/husband outside. That's if Quebec refuses to allow the Natives to remain...

Unacceptable Political Advertising: Liberals Attacking the CF

That's grossly inaccurate. Women and men perpetrate intimate violence at almost even rates. Where child abuse is concerned, a woman is usually the abuser. You're correct, though I'm uncear on "personal gifts". If you want to contribute and you're a foreigner, do so through a Canadian...

    New CF Fitness Policies Coming

The only people that fall under that specification would be people who haven't taken their PT test yet this year or are overdue for a test, no?

Neither Waco or Ruby Ridge were "statist attacks" as both had legal merit and were the fault of uncooperative citizens. As for fiscal conservatives not liking defense/security cuts, I agree - they have their own areas they like to cut which are no more or less justifiable.  I think the PQ and...

Unacceptable Political Advertising: Liberals Attacking the CF

The wording of the ad was: "Who paid for Stephen Harper's rise to the head of the party? We don't know. He refuses to reveal his donors. What do you suppose he's hiding? We do know he's very popular with right-wingers in the U.S. They have money. Maybe they helped? We just don't know. He just...

Unacceptable Political Advertising: Liberals Attacking the CF

After reading the link posted, which discussed the ads and their claims, it doesn't seem they really misrepresented anything with the exception of the military ad. One quoted a WP editorial, not Harper himself, another quoted Harper's attitude towards US conservatism (the Cons can claim it's...

I agree that a different approach needs to be taken to the reserves problem and funding, but espousing assimilation is ridiculous. I wonder when Harper's going to put Pat Robertson on staff.

Unacceptable Political Advertising: Liberals Attacking the CF

As long as ads are attacking statements, policies, or the platform of the party/leader, I don't see a problem with them. Personal attack ads are another thing - IE "Mr. X earns 180 000 in a year, how sensitive do you think he is to the underprivileged?". That Harper's being called on some of...

West should be more "tolerant" of holocaust deniers...

By our own standards? Sure. But that's not really very impressive - I'm pretty good at justifying things to myself when I want them, too. If I tried hard enough, I could probably justify robbing a bank to myself as stimulating the local economy as long as  the money I steal gets spent in local...

Billary is actually relatively fiscally conservative.

    The Capital Punishment Debate

I'm not arguing FOR correlation, I'm arguing against it. There's no demonstrable correlation between capital punishment and crime rates. The fact that the South has a higher crime rate is, I would wager, a function of its poverty levels (dont quote me on it) than its sentencing practices.

Notice to Aboriginal Voters: Globe and Mail Confirms Thomas Flanagan still a

We don't make efforts to "assimilate" anyone - why should natives be different? Whether you agree with it or not, our policy is multiculturalism, not assimilation. This is Canada, not the US. It's hardly suprising it came from Flanagan.
