    HMCS TORONTO, another drug bust!

A Canadian warship on patrol in the Arabian Sea made what the military is touting as an important drug seizure on Saturday. HMCS Toronto intercepted and boarded a suspected smuggling vessel, seizing 154 bags of heroin weighing more than 180 kilograms, said a news release issued late Saturday.

Op SABOT: CF helps hunt down pot

No it was never formally declared. But we don't send in a couple guys in a cruiser or dressed in shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. Nor are they in ball caps, lots of plaid with a farmers tan line driving a combine. They are dressed tactically, swat teams or ERU. And armed to the teeth with full...

Op SABOT: CF helps hunt down pot

Heard it on the radio on the way to work. And next day on Morning news. It also ran on the rolling news during SunNews ,  despite bigger hauls and busts it does report that there is increased availability and lower prices. I heard someone suggest we hire these guys to run the gasoline industry...

Op SABOT: CF helps hunt down pot

Latest news as of yesterday states the "war on drugs" is not working. It seems that the benefits of the war is that it has improved the availability of drugs and reduced the price. We throw so much money at this problem and it still thrives and grows.

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

I like this so much, I sent the article and picture to my MP.  We can't wait for the full meal deal of ships to be built as some will not survive or be too expensive to extend the shelf life? This is like buying a new car. You make the move when the old one costs more to maintain than a car...

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

Could you just imagine this platforms capabilities for something like another Haiti instead of a 280 and a frigate. Seeing our more appropriate vessel was in for service. Yes, I agree it would take the load off and allow another project to move to the front of the line!

Two Canadian warships collide during exercise manoeuvres en route to Hawaii

OTTAWA - A weekend collision with naval supply ship could hasten the demise of the Canadian navy's only command-and-control destroyer in the Pacific, a naval expert warns. The accident involving HMCS Algonquin and HMCS Protecteur will "quite seriously compromise" the country's naval readiness...

    Reunions are important

Dozens of people came out Tuesday to say farewell to nearly 200 veterans that were on a weekend retreat in northern Saskatchewan. The soldiers that came from the United States, Canada, Australia and Great Britain spent their time in Nipawin on a fishing trip put together by the Wounded Warriors...

    Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels (MCDVs)

Oddly enough, I was hooked on the Australian TV series "Sea Patrol" which ran (or is still running) for 5 seasons.  I know it is only fiction but based on the concept, they seem to get a lot done. Is there some duplication of service between the Coast Guard and Navy. Is the empire building...

    Reunions are important

No pictures as I would have to ask all involved. Ours is RCHA, and held in Trenton annually in early Aug. We had an open concept and many of the locals came out and jam with our guys. Br 110 is fantastic. The Base golf course was good and at a fair price.

Whither the Royal Canadian Legion? Or RCL Withers?

RCL take notice!  The decision to commit was made and our sons and daughters responded. If you don't want the consequences of decisions , don't make any! OTTAWA -- At least one veterans group promises to campaign against the Harper Conservatives because of a stand taken by federal lawyers...

Whither the Royal Canadian Legion? Or RCL Withers?

This is my point! There are so many organizations under different names, ANAVETs, The Corp, Unit/Regt Assns in Hometowns, UNVets, RCHA club in Kingston etc etc etc..... We are stretched thinner than the line in the Battle of the Bulge!  There are clubs coast to coast closing weekly. We have a...

Whither the Royal Canadian Legion? Or RCL Withers?

This is not about a new organization but a remodeling in a more modern decor yet traditional. A infiltration or coup d'état, I have personally seen the old guard and how much they resemble a welcome wagon (NOT)! Trying to be positive it is possible sadly enough through attrition. I already...

Whither the Royal Canadian Legion? Or RCL Withers?

There is an idea floating around.  :cdn: There are alot of post Korean veterans,  Cold War, Gulf, Balkans, Afghanistan. And organized under a united front can have the potential for some influence on political decisions. There are some concerns that the current Royal Canadian Legion may notbbe...

    Media Bias [Merged]

In Defense of Sun news, I like my fair share of news and various newspapers. I know I should read more in depth stuff. Starting to appreciate the Ottawa Citizen more with the military coverage. I do find that the CBC and other news hours, skim off the topic and paint a 30 sec sound bite. For an...
