    John Glenn vs Howard Metzenbaum

Enzo It's a product of the times we live in. My parents' generation lived through the Depression and fought World War 2. They built the nation we live in. They gave everything to their children so that we wouldn't have to live through what they did. It's a parent's desire to give their kids...

UNAUTHORIZED DISPOSAL OF COMBAT UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT

Hope it is, but do we have enough MPs to do something about it?

    Alternate for the CIC

Agreed, there would be no reason they would have to take, say, a troopers course because they would never use that training. You had mentioned that you could get a commission in the navy reserve. If you have a degree, I believe, you become a second lieutenant as soon as you join. It doesn't...

    Alternate for the CIC

I'll assume that the question about CIC officers taking regular/reserve force courses is directed at me, the answer is NOT AT ALL! That might do a couple of things. The first would be to give the CIC officers a little more credibility and some knowledge of the workings of the Canadian Forces...

    Alternate for the CIC

I see your point in regards to being trained to work with youth. Would there be anything wrong with having the NCO take the same course as the CIC officers that get them qualified to work with young people? There must be such a course or how do CIC officers get trained? It's common for NCOs...

    War In Iraq Debate

Let's not forget that every country will act in their own best interest first. That's the job of any government. If the Americans choose not invade Iraq during those dark years, it was because it was not in their best interest. The bad guys in Afghanistan became their best interest after...

Leadership in the Cadet Snr NCO role

Do any of you guys get support in the form of NCOs from your sponsering army units?

    Alternate for the CIC

Here's my two cents. I came up through the cadet system in the 70s. We wore the old battle dress uniform so I guess that makes me a dinosaur. How about this, get better training for the CIC officers and allow retired NCOs to become part of the CIC as NCOs. These NCOs would handle the...

New MBT(Leo 2, M1A2, or Challenger 2), new light tank (Stingray), or new DFSV (M8 or MGS)?

Best of luck, George. Thought you‘d had enough of that place.

    Buying/selling Medals Superthread [merged]

Quite a few years ago the price of silver went through the roof. Many World War 1 & 2 medals were sold for scrape metal value and melted down to be lost forever. Better that a collector buy them and treat them with respect that the medals get thrown out, lost or destroyed.

I was in Fort Hood the same time as Marauder. The jerry cans we had said diesel but on the side of bowser had JP8 on it. I remember because it stuck out to me.

MilCOTS GMC Silverado (Iltis replacement for the PRes)

From StratO "Obviously some of you Reservists don‘t know the purpose of the Silverado. It is supposed to be an Adm veh for you to conduct your daily ADM tasks, not go to the field for use as an AFV. The Regt‘s that are currently using the Iltis for Armd Recce will be getting the LUVW recce...
