    SSM

I'm not dumping on anyone getting the SSM and for the Rangers that recieve them, good on them.  Don't read this as bashing any group, I'm looking for debate over the SSM.  Back to the original question, how about a bar for Domestic Operations (or a Domestic Operations Medal and award the Ranger...

    SSM

OK.  So how about everyone else who does (unpaid) things in their communities that is above and beyond what we do on duty?  Should they get the SSM with a bar?  What bar? We shouldn't end (friendly) debate with "because the DHH and the GG says so".

    SSM

Here's a question about the Special Service Medal, are we awarding it for the "right" reasons? If you read the criteria for the award http://www.mdn.ca/dhh/honours_awards/chart/engraph/chart_display_e.asp?cat=3&ref=SSM there is different spans of time and duties required for the award of the...

    Medals and Stars

I know that this is a hotly debated topic but I would like to keep it in a historical context. I'd like to debate the current SWASM and the GCS and compare these with their historical counter parts. In World War 1, we had the 1914 Star and the 1914-15 Star (which the current General Campaign...

    Military Quote

I think it's from Napoleon.  He was talking about the adrenaline dump after battle when soldier feel the most tired.  They lay down and sleep while the enemy counter attacks.  I think Grossman talks about it in one of his books.

    Question for the cops

I've met him before, great guy. It's just that my supervisor at work mentioned that Toronto has around 23 officers getting ready for or on deployment and he was wondering how they were working the court issue.

    Question for the cops

For the cops in the crowd.  WHen we get on class B or C  inpreparation for deployment, how are your court appearences handled?  Do you return for court or have you worked something out with the crowns?

Just catching up on this thread. Pedro was the course officer as an MWO on my SLC in Pet in 2003 (04?).  He really has't changed at all.  Frank Demane (sp?), last I heard was instructing in St Jean, but that was a few years ago.  Kim LaPointe was in the Lincoln and Wellend back then. Last...
