When I was up in Moosenee (James Bay Area) they had one bank that issued a bank card to you but no bank machine ...the only ATM machine was in the gas/convience store and it charged 4% of your withdrawal on top of the fees from the bank...we found out later that that same bank owned the ATM ...

One of the things I used to do was when they called at supper time i would tell the person i was interested but i had something on the stove and could they wait ...i would then put the phone down and start the timer and see how long they would stay on the line while i ate or watched tv .

I don't think your friend is coming to Ontario in Dec as there is no recruit crse starting her then in fact it is only a couple of weeks until christmas leave .he may have meant Jan 07 that's when the next crse starts

I know that you will have a chance to go to the canex in the first few days on crse ,because that's when the guys get to lose their hair (barber) and you will have to get the stuff you need on the list and only that stuff . And as SOF said better to get it at home where it's probably cheaper...

When I was in cadets and took part in the poppy distrubution we were never paid it was a part of our duty as cadtes to take part in this important cause .i was asked many times what the price was and the response was always whatever you feel like giving .
As for Meridian...
As far I know they don't have a problem with you being in both jobs .
A few years ago in my home unit we had a woman who was both a reservist and a civi employee with the R.C.M.P . She had to release from the miltary when she became a constable with them .
