IMO, there is no need to bring the flag at half mast everytime a comrade is killed. The real remembering occurs in the mess over a beer, or when reminiscing with buddies over old times. Not when people drive by parliament hill and see the flag down.

I recall there being a martial arts program that was run at Meaford a couple of years ago.  It was something soldiers could attend on their own time in the evenings and was conducted in the base gym.

Another reason why more recruits need to take their first aid training during BMQ seriously.  You never know when you'll need it.
