Should I bother to get a good, possibly expensive watch with a bunch of gadgets on it before my BMQ? Or just stick to getting a cheap watch as the joining instructions recommend you bring?

I'm not a fan of Nickleback either although I am happy to see a Canadian band doing so well internationally.

My BMQ will also start on September 4th in Borden, I will be regular force Infantry Soldier in RCR as well.  :)

Mine was approximately 3 months from handing in my application to getting my call, and that is with a delay during my credit check.

As far as I know, if you're married you don't have to pay for your room or your meals on BMQ so that should help.

I've just received my call, so I voted for CFRC Toronto. Everyone has been very helpful and I went through the process quickly. Handed in application online in early April. April 18-Did my CFAT and my medical. May 3-Did my physical and my interview. A bill came up on my credit check so my...

Just got my call!  :) I swear in on August 17th and I start my basic in Borden on September 4th and finish December 1st. I'm going to be RCR (not sure which battalion yet). Thanks again for all of your help!!  :) :cdn: :)

I'm not sure if it varies province to province but here in Ontario I'm pretty sure you need 900 working hours in, and you meet that prerequisite.
