Would like to talk to some service men and women -- considering a career

If you want to be a part of Special Operations, keep in mind they also need many of the "support" trades as well, so don't think you need to be some ninja-sniper badass to be a part of it. Also, do you have a degree? As everyone else has said, if you're not comfortable with being a part of...

    Infantry Recruiting (Merged)

Based on my conversation with a recruiter maybe a month ago it's ~200 with selections being on June 7th. Not sure if that's the only date this year or not.

There's also a 2012 applicant Facebook group if you want to ask there: http://www.facebook.com/groups/366983979998767/409046965792468/?notif_t=group_activity

    Medical Release from Basic

Ok thanks. Leaving my current path is a big decision, which I think is just making meĀ  over-think it and obsess about various risks. Pusser's point is a good one.

    References Superthread [Merged]

Hi all, A (albeit quick) search didn't seem to turn up the answer to this simple question: Are your listed references part of the scoring process? I ask because I feel like many young people in my position who have moved around a lot (especially for school) don't have many (if any)...

    CFAT call

Unless things have changed, they should have an informal interview with you after your CFAT to discuss your performance (though they won't give you exact results).

    Medical Release from Basic

Yeah, sorry, I know that it would be a case by case kind of thing. I just got paranoid after seeing someone tear their ACL in the "Basic Up" series after (it seems) an instructor threw him improperly. But to clarify my question, it is my understanding that a fully trained CF member cannot be...

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

I'm a little confused that they seem to contact references after the interview/medical. Last year my references were contacted after my CFAT. I was told the references are really just to confirm you are who you say you are and that you aren't a maniac. It seems odd they would go through the...

    Medical Release from Basic

Apologies if this has been discussed before. I've read in this forum of a few people being medically released from BMQ (mostly older threads, so haven't read many details). I was just looking for some general info on this. I'm more concerned with how it relates to injuries. I figure some people...

CFAT Issue, Planning on joining Reserves

Sometimes people who are familiar with the recruiting process aren't around to answer questions. When someone starts a sentence with "I think..." it's pretty obvious that they're acknowledging that they're not an expert (so take it with a grain of salt) up front. Sometimes the best answer people...

Getting back in after 3b Release?

Ha, nah, I get it. That's just why I wanted to tell him to talk to his local recruiting staff.

    Questions Regarding Reserves Recruitment

Just so you know, there are a number of threads on ADHD so have a look through those. About being out of the country, maybe Hatchet or someone else can answer this: when they say 180 days over 10 years, do they mean 180 consecutive days in the last 10 years, or 180 days (say, 20 days/year for...

Getting back in after 3b Release?

Alright, my bad. I just thought the obvious answer was "it depends" as all these cases are individual. Most of the time when one asks an obvious question around here they get jumped on, so I just wanted to say he needs to bring it up with a recruiter.

Getting back in after 3b Release?

Ha, I thought speculation was the point of the recruiting forums! Was I incorrect to say he needs to go to an RC as this kind of thing would obviously be done on a case by case basis?

Getting back in after 3b Release?

I imagine the answer is a general yes, but on a case by case basis. It would probably depend on what you were released for, and what the progress has been since then. Talk to a recruiter who should be able to give you a better answer/ point you in the direction of the local medical staff

CFAT Issue, Planning on joining Reserves

Since you're in university now I think they'll let you do a 3rd, but you should check with a recruiter to make sure. I assume you're in Toronto- the RC is easy to get to, right off the subway line at Sheppard. As with most questions, the best bet is to go down there and talk to them (or call)...

    Interview update

Yeah I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. You've just gotta do another interview. Your last one went fine, with the proper preparation I'm sure this one will too. As for your references, especially if it's been less than a year, I doubt they'll call them again. The references (to my...

Any word on Officer trade numbers?

Right, my bad, I was thinking about it too simplistically. In that context, I guess the small numbers make sense.

Any word on Officer trade numbers?

Oh ok, my mistake. I was under the impression that ROTP candidates did their occupational training in the summers so that they were job-ready upon graduation.
