    Folding Pockets Knives in BMQ?

I very much agree with that comment. However, during basic you are not a soldier/sailor yet. Having done basic recently (not sure what the rules were 10 years ago) I can tell you there isn't much use for a knife. In fact they were forbidden. Having said that; there were several people on my...

MedTech is thinking about trying a cigar! Any suggestions?

I miss cigars greatly; so soothing and flavourful. Sadly I gave up the habit for obvious reasons; but that doesn't mean I wont enjoy a victory smoke when I graduate from my 3s.

    Folding Pockets Knives in BMQ?

No need for a pocket knife at bmq; when something needs to be cut (ex. parachute cord) scissors will be passed around. If you're one of those fellas that likes to carry a downtown knife be warned that it may be confiscated by your instructors. On my course knives were strictly forbidden.

MedTech is thinking about trying a cigar! Any suggestions?

The cigar brand is pretty important but let's not forget the size either. As a beginner smoker you may not want  (or be able ) to smoke for an extended period of time. So buy a cigar you know you can finish. Also take your time, don't start sucking the life out of the cigar or you'll overheat it...

    Meet and Greet In Vancouver!

Preferably one on the island  ;D; a trip to mainland including accommodations will set me back a tad too far.

Just some thoughts in light of the events of the past week

+1 Big Foot. You couldn't have said it any better. Having recently joined the regular forces I take even more pride in what I do, which isn't much as I'm on course, but I'm looking forward to the day where I can serve my country.

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

I'm not sure what the rotation is for duty neip master seamans but I can say I've been on neip for almost a month and still havn't had the same ms twice as a neip instructor.  I do appreciate those master seamans who must give up their personal time for neip, however we (od's) lose our night...

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

Agreed. Neip needs a huge overhaul. Springroll have you told your instructor that neip is interfereing with your course studies? I started course last week but as soon as I find the program bothersome to my studying habits I will definitely bring it up with my instructor. For now the amount of...

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

No one actually does any cleaning ;D, atleast not that I know of. Just go to your room and stay out of sight.

    NEIP...what is your opinion?

I'm currently on NEIP so here's my .2s. You have to muster in the morning after breakfast, the duty NEIP master seaman takes attendance, and then you're off to whatever(course, pat, etc).  After supper you muster again for cleaning stations at 6pm. Cleaning stations can go from 15 minutes to 45...

Decorated Canadian soldier beaten and taunted by his fellow citizens

Sadly a blanket party is not enough. The culprit(s) needs some decent jail time. A truly shameful and repugnant act. Here's hoping for a quick recovery for MCpl Fitzgerald.

What not to do - No excuse BMQ tips [Merged]

Wish I had known that during basic. Thx for the tip Steve. Showers are not enough to rinse the camo paint. Paper towels, soap, hot water, and lots of scrubbing until your face turns red did the job for me.
