Well considering this thread is back alive, I actually have a question. I was wondering what happens to you if you're injured in training to the point of basically being out of commission for an extended period of time?
Regardless, congrats on all the success!
Ha, oh yes, I have quite a bit of waiting ahead of me. My father lives in the States, and I've spent about 8 months in Germany, so I have to go through the whole backcheck process. You don't even schedule an Interview or Medical until that's done, and it can take quite a while. The only trade...
If you're waiting for a call about your interview and such- you may be waiting on your security/loyalty backcheck. I'm currently waiting for mine and it can be quite a lengthy process. Only way to really get a better picture is to call (or better yet go down to) your RC.
Straying a bit off topic here, but Rugivet- you weren't doing it in Toronto were you?
Also, I should have asked this today, but say my trade closes for this year and I apply again next year- do I take the CFAT again?
Just wrote it today, so I thought I'd give some feedback while it's still fresh. Personally, I was really pressed for time in both the spatial and problem solving portions. As I predicted, I struggled quite a bit with the spatial questions and I think of all the sections, the jump was the...
Just thought I would share this link for some spatial stuff:

Writing the CFAT tomorrow, so I'm not sure how representative it is, but I found it helpful. The Spatial...
Ha, fair enough point. I would say though that anxiety plays a lot in these types of things, and going into an exam knowing as much about the process as possible often reduces that anxiety for a lot of people.
The 2nd part I'm pretty sure depends on your trade (local or national selection). About the Canada Post issue, that's something I've been wondering myself.
For those who have written it, did you find you were pressed for time? I tend to do well on these types of things, but I do take my time. Also, I presume you are made aware of how much time you have left as the test goes on?
I have my CFAT coming up next week and for what it's worth my recruiter made sure to stress that just because I'm a grad student I shouldn't take it lightly. He said (as others here have) that the real test is quite a bit harder than the practice and sometimes has questions that feel out of...
I would imagine it's different for each area. I don't know this, but from what I've seen it seems that certain areas have a certain number of positions to give out, so it's probably more up to them. Best bet as always is the awkward phone call though. Congrats on the Merit Listing!
Perhaps I'm wrong, but wouldn't the psychiatric condition come up in the medical? They also do a medical history check. I would have enough faith in the system that someone who's just 100% rotten wouldn't make it through- especially these days.
I suppose it would depend on the trade, but from what I've seen there's even more competition in the NCM trades, especially those without many academic requirements.
Going for DEO Infantry myself, only just applied last week in Toronto. Will be writing my CFAT on the 28th. We'll see how long the process takes- I'm worried it'll be slowed down by my 8 months studying in Germany and the fact that like many university grads, I'm walking around with about 30k in...
If at 200lbs you can do a set of 100 pushups that's impressive indeed! As mentioned, look into swimming at basic, to my knowledge it is still part of the program in the Regs at least. Regardless, if you really do have a deathly fear of water, I imagine anything in the combat arms is out. As for...
Hi Gunz,
Liked reading your post as I'm in a slightly similar position. I'm finishing a MSc right now though in bio. As a sidenote- I'm a cancer researcher, I work with lots of chems/physicists in imaging! It seems you've made your decision, but I'd also recommend you use that education and...
