Rather than re-invent the wheel and take on the huge associated workload (you can tell I'm truly lazy) ... why not try to contact the RAF. They have a very active "Heritage Flight" from what I understand ... just the sort of thing you are trying to push for on this side of the Atlantic.
Might...
Concur ..... it just always seems to resurrect ... pork barrel politics.
It's a real shame .... the C130J is a fantastic aircraft.
Bringing it directly on-line to replace our E and H model C-130 fleet would be an even greater success than the C-17 program was.
Just like the C-17 project, the J...
OS:
Yes absolutely. I'm the lucky one .... while I worked hard on the project I also get to fly the thing, take it to airshows and enjoy life with it. However, there was a very dedicated staff buried in cubicles in Ottawa working in the Project Management Staff that broke their backs working...
While we flew our first "humanitarian" mission only 11 days after delivery .......
The first "operational mission" launched out of Trenton just 14 days after official delivery ceremonies on Sunday 12th Aug.
It landed in Kandahar 17 days after the ceremonies.
92,000 lbs of freight in one...
CTV News - Global TV out of Toronto gave the mission very good coverage on the news.
A reporter and cameraman actually came along on the flight ("embedded" reporting so to speak!!! ;D).
So, the evening news TV coverage for those who live in the Toronto area was actually very good last night...
Doesn't matter really .... you get used to whatever it is that you're flying with.
On the bright side, having the stick reduces the obstructions to your visions when you're trying to look down at your Nav display right in front of you. The yoke on the C130 tended to get in the way a bit when...
BG:
Funny you should mention that.
"paradigm" ..... that's my new word for the day!! ;D
I damned near talked myself hoarse with all the interviews I did with the MSM at Abbotsford. I've got a sore throat. And, after all that, approx 3 seconds of a sound bite makes it on National news? ...
"Canada 1" ..... so CA-1 is actually just the "production number of the aircraft.
The other allies who have purchased the aircraft also use the same labelling option ..... AT-1 for the Australians and so on ..... UK-1 for the British first aircraft .... it is just a method for Boeing to track...
Then now is a good time to join.
With the arrival of new aircraft and with the ongoing procurement of new equipment, your timing to be a pilot is excellent.
Part of me wishes I was 20 years younger and starting now instead of 1988.
Good luck in your pursuits.
Yes I know, 5 hours is not really enough ... but with a packed schedule lined up for the next several days it is about all we can squeeze right now.
It's unfortunate, wish it could be longer but it's all we can do right now.
The Heritage theme is a good one.
One of the best things I remember about air shows (and I don't go to them very often at all) was a long time ago back in Hamilton.
Seeing and hearing the warbirds fly was terrific - the Lancaster and the spitfire.
I would like to see more WW2 aircraft flying at...
Tail number 177701 made it's first flight from the Boeing plant at Long Beach, California today.
The aircraft took off at 1000 hrs PST, 9 Aug 2007.
It was in "perfect" condition ...... still is actually. ;D

If anyone is interested .....
The new CC177, tail number 177701, will be publically unveiled and shown at the Abbotsford Airshow.
Sat 11th Aug
0800 - 1300
It's a short time frame, which is not ideal, but the agenda is being driven by other authorities and agencies.
