Brad:
You need to come and spend some time at 8 Wing Trenton and see just how busy the "Air Mobility" portion of the Air Force. It's been deploying and rotating since winter 2001 without respite supporting overseas operations. 429, 436 and 437 Sqns are "vanguard" units (as defined in 1 Cdn...
The CAS has signed the "release to service" and the POAC [Provisional Operational Airworthiness Certification] today (Fri 20th July).
Mtg commenced at 1300 hrs and was over at 1410 hrs. He was very excited about achieving this milestone.
Once again, another good "air force" day.
We officially...
The arrival of the CC177 to 8 Wing Trenton will NOT cause the loss of the Golf Course or displacement of the mosquitoes.
The aircraft will be on the east side of the ramp (east of 10 hangar) once all the construction is complete.
Any rumours of golf course disappearance will be due to "other"...
And all that being said, today 18 July 2007, LCol DW Lowthian assumed command of 429 (T) Sqn at 8 Wing Trenton.
429 (T) Sqn had been "retired" for a little over 2 years, so it was a tremendous day today to see the colours brought back out. The weather was good and there was a huge turnout of...
The aircraft will arrive in Trenton on the 9th August - ceremony.
There is also a demo planned for 10th Aug etc ... another ceremony.
Abbotsford airshow on the 11/12th Aug.

Cool video - very nice.
But from the flight deck point of view, like that video, they're both about the same.
Neither are smooth nor pretty ...... ;D
It's all a bumpy, rough, noisy ride.
E.R.
Absolutely - you pretty much hit the nail on the head there.
The FWSAR project was (is) also intended to encompass "northern" and "domestic" air transport [in addition to it primary SAR role] thus relieving some of that demand from the strategic and tactical air transport fleets. These...
That's a very good question, but a moot one at that.
The CC130E AND the CC130H are both being replaced by the ACP-T project - or otherwise known as the C-130J acquisition.
17 tails in total are included in this project to replace the 32 ..... now down to about 28 ..... Es and Hs.
This is all one...
HT:
I used to be qualified for AR when I was flying this thing with the USAF from 2001-2004.
But not any longer.
We're not going to bother with AR.
With the ER tanks we'll have plenty of gas to do what we need within our crew duty days.
Also, since the CF does not possess any "boom" tankers...
Haletown:
They're all extended range [ER] tank aircraft.
Boeing stopped making the "non-ER" tanks on fuselage 71.
The first 70 were non-ER and then every aircraft from then on have been ER jets.
So, we'll have a 245,000 lb fuel capacity.
Plenty of gas to get to where we need to go ..... I...
INCH:
Once again I stand corrected. :P
The tail numbers will be 6 digits after all.
Sorry about that ......
As we can see, the first one is 177701
Then we'll see:
177702
177703
177704
First it was 6, then back to 5 now back to 6. ::)
No FEs on the KC150 either.
There will continue to be a civilian AME onboard as always, but no FE.
Still one on the KC130 - but lord only knows how long that capability will be around!!
No FE on the C-130J - and none on the CC177 - or the Challenger.
The dwindling C130E/H and the CP140 may...
