I was just down in Long Beach, California this past week attending a conference and managed to get a tour of the Boeing Plant and the C-17 assembly line. I did manage to get a great tour of our first two jets thanks to the flight operations people at Boeing.
We managed to take a look at F-177...
Folks:
Here are a couple of shots of our first tail (P-177) hitting the paint shop. It is still scheduled for the acceptance test flights in the July timeframe and delivery in Aug 07.
The second tail, P-180, should be somewhere on the first half of the assembly line right now and is still...
Many thanks for the congrats.
Suffice it to say that we are extremely busy in the USA right now getting the initial cadre of crews (6 pilots and 6 loadmasters) up to speed. We're trying to cram as much training (the embedded seasoning training) as we can into them using USAF aircraft before we...
Fraggle:
That one is still being determined by Air Div right now.
Still no definitive answer yet though - no official doctrine.
However, that being said, as the legacy E&H fleet continues to implode due to the dwindling number of serviceable airframes and the continued high operations tempo for...
The 4 major pieces of our first aircraft were put together down in Long Beach California.

We are still set for an August 2007 delivery of this first tail.
There are quite a few ANAVS who are "O/T"ing to Pilot at the moment. Some of them I know wear glasses and have received some form of "waiver" for their vision.
Might be worth checking out for those who wish to change trades.
I would have to second BYT's opinion on that one.
8 Wing is so unbelievably busy with ops and now with a huge infrastructure overhaul I doubt that an airshow is even on the radar. The spring and summer will be spent getting ready for the August arrival of the CC177 ... and it just goes on from...
It all boils down to personal choice. Some people are happy to pursue the civil side of aviation and remain there entirely, while others prefer to reside on the military aviation side of the house. True, some of those in uniform leave and join the airlines, while others stay .... it all boils...
Two aircraft has gone through the refit and plumbing for the in-flight refuelling hoses etc ...
They are currently undergoing OT&E but is is hoped by all that they will be complete by summer 2007 and should be passing gas to the fighters soon after.
Staff shortages in AETE and TOTEF and the...
Yes, you're right BYT ... we're moving to very specific missions/roles now ... away from that "multi role" money saving posture that we've had jammed down our throats for so many years ... where each unit was an all singing, all dancing, jack of all trades and master of none ... timeframe.
But...
.. and for all the operational aircrew out there ... if I'm ever doing a "runner" in the AOR I don't want to be mistaken for downed aircrew from another country.
If captured I would prefer to be recognized as being Canadian and not as downed aircrew from some other nation by virtue of the...
For all those former bisons out there ................
Instead of the C-17 becoming a "flight" of 437 Sqn, the CAS has recently decreed that 429 Sqn will be stood back up and reactivated as the CC177 squadron.
This should occur on or around 18-20 July 07.
A good reason to go and spill some...
Yes - we just purchased the C-17, brand new block 17 models fresh off the assembly line.
ACP-T will see the acquisition of the C-130 J. They don't come much newer than that.
FWSAR will be modern.
The avionics in the Cormorant is pretty impressive.
The proposed Sea King replacement, S-92 is...
No, I think the General's O2 supply is good, ;D but all these projects and proposals as we all know are going to be really hard to accomplish in more ways than one.
Just bringing the C-17 on-line and planning for delivery of the C-130J as early as fall 2009 and then into 2010 has already...
No, age is not a factor or function .. neither is height or weight or anything else.
Aircrew selection process will determine if you have the aptitude to become aircrew ....
The flying courses will determine if you can succeed as a pilot.
Selection will then taken place based on your aptitude...
