Maybe we should keep the 76mm guns from the Iroquois fleet and use them as a GBAD training tool. There are some very interesting ammunition natures for this system, and it has also previously been mounted on a tank chassis as a SPAA system (proof of concept) so its certainly possible to use it...
We sure spent a lot of money on a vehicle we don't know what to do with.
At least we could have purchased some of the Infantry Section Carrier versions (give them to reserve armoured so they can taxi reserve infantry around) or better yet some of the mortar variants so we could actually move...
UH-1Y production for the USMC just finished... Might be a good time to get a deal on airframes that are everything the Griffon isn't! Buy about 20 Cobras while we're at it.
New SSKs could be purchased for more like $500 million (assuming they were purchased off the shelf- which I suppose would never happen) so for the price of the upgrade we could likely buy 4 brand new boats incorporating all the latest AIP tech... 2 Billion dollar upgrade program is beyond...
2 other options would be the Arktis version or an airsoft brand called Invader Gear. I don't believe either is genuine Cadpat material but they look pretty close... quality will be not so close. YMMV
Interesting that an armed civilian also responded;

Could we add something like the Spike ER to add a bit of punch? Seems like the cost and footprint are fairly modest compared to the increase in leathality...

I'll trade you for 10k rounds of 81mm... THAT would be handy out this way. ;)
I thought the companies within each 3rd battalion already do this more or less. (Probably less)
There is an ongoing Light Forces Initiative that is being taken quite seriously at a high level. The planning I've seen is robust and well thought out.
If the regular force cannot figure out a way to effectively use the 3rd battalions then could easily be lost. Same goes for the reserves; we...
The requirement to punch the tongue seem a little far fetched but it makes some sense if the goal is to limit unnecessary boot purchases; the entitlement isn't simply 1pr /yr (or 2 or 3) it is one per interval "as required". Otherwise theoretically the whole section could present Cpl Bloggins'...
"Has 3 Div pushed direction down to subordinate units that pers are not to proceed with purchases?"
Yes. Pre-approval is required prior to purchase and then confirmation that the boots are GTG prior to wear. See below for excerpts from the actual directive.
In that case the photo will be a gold mine of piss taking for his buddies
And yah I know that body type; I had a WO who could run a platoon of athletic kids into the ground and yet would smoke cigarettes before and after. Fierce.
CF mbr or civy contractor? I would assume from his dress state he is some sort of high speed dude, but (perhaps it's just the photo) he also looks seriously obese...
The restrictions are virtually all on the USA side. A Canadian PAL holder can import pretty much any legal firearm or firearm part per Canadian law with no specific import license. It is the USA export restriction which have impeded the flow of goods from USA to Canada since shortly after 9/11...
I use a strobe pouch on the back of my helmet with an MS200 in there when wearing night vision equipment. In a pinch I've also used a box of clipped C7 ammo and once even a flat rock jammed under my helmet band. A counter-weight makes a HUGE difference.
Also since consistently following a...
