    Walts, posers & wannabes (merged)

I believe they do in the US. Watching a 'Stolen Valor' compilation on YouTube, I distinctively remember someone calling out a guy in uniform pretending to have served for a discount at Subway and then another at Starbucks, hence the use of my examples. Outside of that, cant say for sure.

    Walts, posers & wannabes (merged)

I'm fascinated by the mindset of people who have no military background, yet decide to replicate solider uniforms and display themselves at these public functions in the vicinity of a large group of people with military backgrounds and credentials. I mean, do you not have any friends or family...

    Aircrew Selection/ACS (Merged)

Logic seems to be an incomplete solution to an emotional/ personal issue, but take the following for what its worth. We all have our ceilings in different domains, such as our ability to run 5km in a given amount of time, or our ability to reduce our time on dst and fuel consumption calculations...

    Aircrew Selection/ACS (Merged)

I think preparation is important. Not only to get your brain accustomed to the mental activity without the use of pen and paper, but to be able to say to yourself, whatever the outcome, 'I prepared to the best of my ability'. Prep helps confidence going into the test, and, if unsuccessful, helps...

Wondering if they are still hiring for  PLT, ACSO and AEC for the 17/18 intake.

Am I too old, unfit or uncertain?

Aircrew applicant here. Just curious as to the specific type of physical training that one goes through with respect to becoming an Infantry officer.

Competition List Questions (formally called Merit List) [MERGED]

Thanks for the information BUCK_HRA. Does the medical factor in at all. For example, would a V1 categorization as opposed to V2 help your application, even though you passed all medical tests but scored above the requirement?

    Aircrew Selection/ACS (Merged)

Al Gore invented the Internet? I thought he invented the conspiracy theory known as 'Global Warming'.  ;D When you went through Loachman, was it just the CAPSS selection system. Was there any other written tests required for pilot selection at ACS?

Same. For the few things you could directly practice, like STD questions, mental math, and reading aircraft '6 pack', I practiced whenever I could, even when completely depleted from the days events. I found the mental exhaustion from the amount of mental arithmetic and study to be beneficial...

Competition List Questions (formally called Merit List) [MERGED]

Looking to get some insight in how your ranking in determined on the competition list with respect to PILOT, ACSO and AEC applications. Been on the list for all three trades since September 17. Been using that time productively ( working, working out like a madman, reading and flying, etc.), but...

Navy acknowledges aircrew drew a penis in the sky over Washington

The Blue Angels application process is a competitive pilot slot. Got to do something to stand out (up ? )from the crowd, or something to 'beef' up your resume... I'll show myself out.

What book are you reading now?

Finished reading 'The Compound Effect' by Darren Hardy. I was at a family member's house and started flipping through different books on the reading shelf and this one caught my interest. It is essentially a personal improvement book grounded around the concept that what we do every day, through...

    Ain't Karma a Bit##!

Lol. Your irony evaded my radar. But I would have went with a title along the lines of " OHHH, The Irony!!!!" ( I nit-pick, I've been told ( more than once ;D)).

    Ain't Karma a Bit##!

I struggle to see how the title of this forum relates to the article. He didn't bully a smaller guy and 3 weeks later get his papers handed to him by a larger guy. He had a genetic predisposition to heart disease, as evidenced by his extensive family history, and suffered a heart attack in...

    Aircrew Medical costs for applicants

At the standard medical he wrote me down as V2, which I am assuming is less than 20/20. He then sent me to an optometrist, stating that the optometrist would provide more detailed testing. She filled out the form listed in this forum. She also wrote me down as 6/6 in both eyes. I asked if this...

    Aircrew Medical costs for applicants

I believe the minimum vision standard is V2 for pilot. While doing the standard medical, I had trouble reading the last line of the test. The medical technician wrote me down as V2. I asked how the testing went afterwards with regards to pilot. I asked if V1 is the requirement and he double...

Kids, Would You Please Start Fighting?

I enjoyed the material of the course. It was interesting reading the text. I resented that I had to show up to a lecture or lose marks, while the professeur added nothing of value to my own self study. The experience opened my eyes to the petty and childish nature of some adults...

Kids, Would You Please Start Fighting?

When I was in University we were assigned a case assignment regarding whether a company should expand into a new market or remain as is and maintain their market share. One of those assignments where there was no "right" answer, where the critical thinking and explanation for said decision...
