    TV series "The Unit"

Really? Even when the army realized what a wonderful resource they had available to them, and started using the super-PMQ wives on their squirrel missions?  ;D

    Pouches for a tourniquet

Does it have to be a pouch? If not, I was a fan of the BFG tourniquet Now strap. Otherwise, shouldn't a single pistol mag pouch work?

Man charged after grenade launcher found in B.C. hotel room

Not sure about the laws, but these are: https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/shopexd.asp?id=643&bc=no How convertible they are, I don't know.

Shelved Forces Ads Aimed at Aboriginals Offensive to the Point of Being Racist

Funny, when I first saw the topic I immediately thought of the scene in the old SHARP video "He can't be gay, he's an Indian!" Personally, when targeting a specific demographic, imo instead of going with commercials, put that money into actually passing information material or actually going to...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

I have a feeling that most guys getting in will become bored and disgruntled by the time they hit the 2.1 level, regardless of where they are. I'll agree that guys shouldn't be hitting JSR right out the gate, but you won't see that happen. Trade's just filling positions right now, even if it's...

    So I bought a Norinco M305 (Shorty)

Nothing wrong with buying Norinco IMO. They're QC in my mind has improved vastly in the last few years, and I love my 14 in HP9. As far as tacticooling up the 305 (which I'm considering as my next purchase if I can talk my wife into it), depends on what you want to pay into it. First off, look...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

I don't think it's so much an issue going from JSR to a Bde Sigs Sqn if they go into the IS Tp or even Extension Dets, the switch from TLAN to using WAN kits is pretty minimal. Networks pretty much a network, especially with the use of the TSL-Heavy's. I think the biggest issue is taking...

The hell it is. Maybe for the individuals themselves, sure. They'll be exposed to a lot. For the good of the service and units? Not a chance in hell. When you're a tradesman at a first-line unit, you're supposed to be the SME. When this first originally rolled out, we were told an ACISS DP1...

    Useful Smartphone/iPhone apps

So after Mike's announcement about the Battle Procedure app, just wondering what useful apps others have in their phone, mostly work related. Myself: SICE Advanced Radiolink Calculator allows planning, installing and managing radio links and networkds, to include planning for signals...

Announcing the Battle Procedure Aide Memoire for iPhone/iPad

"Gentlemen, Orders" *insert DS apoplexy as iPhone is pulled out of pocket* Cool app, definitely has great potential, if for nothing else but a refresher tool. This is straight into my work folder along with my MGRS GPS and Advanced Radiolink calculator. Hmm. Maybe a new topic with useful apps...

764 Comm Grp? Where is it?!?

It's in Ottawa. Dependant on which section, can't really tell you which building your friend will be in. Mostly Colonel By, maybe some dudes over at Tunney's. They travel around a lot the city a lot. When I was there last, something like 38 buildings they serviced. Either way, which building is...

Mefloquine (a.k.a Lariam) anti-malarial in CF use (merged)

In 2007, I took Malarone, one of the daily pill because I didn't have enough workup time before deploying to get on mefloquin. Didn't like it because 1. I always forgot to take it, and 2. it seemed to mess with my appetite. In 2009, I wanted mefloquin, particularly to see what the "vivid...

APRIL FOOLS 2012 - Announcing SIR - Voice Activated Commands for Army.ca

What if you say things that you would in real life, like; "SIR; That's really a horrible idea" or; "SIR; I don't think you really understand how this system works"  ;D I'll try this right away edit to add: Very interesting. I like messing around with voice enterprises programs. This one's...

What does it mean when you get sent a package from the recruiting center?

So, if I apply online, I'd have a 1 in 3 chance of getting sea monkeys? Sweet! In retrospect, if I applied online, I wonder how long it'd take them to realize I was in. It's like a fun game... Mess with the guy at the recruiting table at major events  ;D

If you mean as in positional pay (like jump pay..You're in a jump position, you get it, you aren't, you don't) I agree wholeheartedly. The problem is, it would be such an administrative nightmare, that you won't ever see it.
