Our North - SSE Policy Update Megathread

Not quite. It’s like having a base commander and a lodger Wing on the base with a different commander. Two very different roles.

Our North - SSE Policy Update Megathread

Except all those units have a vastly different purposes, and all fall under a single Wing Commander. Having two ship CO would go against unity of command.

Our North - SSE Policy Update Megathread

Please stop with having more than one person in charge….. This is why our organization is incapable of holding people accountable….

    Pay increments

Rate of pay and pay increments are two different things. Those two things are differentiated in the CBI. Your rate of pay could be equal to that of a given PI but your may still be at PI Basic for PI progression purposes. Not sure why you are laughing at this, but Furniture’s experience seem...

    Pay increments

No, it covers pay groups within the rank of Captain. Pay groups are linked to specific qualifications to be eligible for said pay group.

    Pay increments

Thx. Do you have a CBI reference for this? As far as I can find, CBIs only talk about rates of pay upon promotion, not pay increments.

    Pay increments

Quick question for the admin gurus. Let’s say someone is paid 8,000 at PI8 in their current rank. They are promoted but the rank PIs are: PI Basic: 7,000 PI1: 7,500 PI2: 8,000 PI3: 8,500 PI4: 9,000 IAW CBI 204.04(3)b, the member would be paid 8,500 a month in their first year. Would they...

Initiatives launched to retain and increase RCAF personnel experience levels

I travel a lot for work. Delta and Air Canada are generally really good (on time, no bag lost), Westjet is okay, United and American are pure garbage.

Federal Government & Union spar over returning to office

There are areas where electronic devices, even those DND-provided in airplane mode, cannot go. Paper is still very much relevant in today’s age.

Federal Government & Union spar over returning to office

I have a laptop and a tablet. The tablet is very useful for travel as it is small and fits in small carry on luggage and leaves plenty of space for a uniform with some change clothes.

    The Next Canadian Government

You can’t really compare the US government structure with ours… Two entirely different systems.

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

That could actually be a win to repair our road infrastructure that is in dire need….

Fighter Pilot Colonel with 35 simulator minutes was at controls of Apache that crashed

No. My point was to show that doing these types of things can be done safely with much less experienced pilots.

Fighter Pilot Colonel with 35 simulator minutes was at controls of Apache that crashed

We put fighter pilots at the controls of helos (without sim time) and helo pilots in the front seat of fighters (after about 1hr of sim time) safely for Test Pilot Selection. My first flight at Test Pilot School (a long time ago now…) was at the control of a UH-60L.

    A HAS wouldn’t have helped.

New accommodations facility at CFB Esquimalt and plan to build more homes on military bases

That’s part of the risk of owning rental property. Hiking rent while interest is higher would be fine…. If a corresponding decrease in interest would result in rent reduction. We all know that when interests come back down that landlords will pocket the difference.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Small arms wont stop 2,000 lb penetrators bombs, which is what a HAS is really meant to protect against. I’m a lot more concerned about cyber attacks to the F-35’s IM infrastructure than a physical attack against our future F-35s.

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

It is already not. SOFCOM operated CE145s and CH146s, and other elements operate a multitude of UAS.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Nope. Perfectly aligned. They don’t park fighters in HAS in CONUS/AK. Heck, their F-22s in AK are in hangars just like we’ll have. They have HAS in Japan, Korea, etc. If we had bases there, we certainly should have them as well, given the risk.
