Yeah its their heritage, they originally were a Dragoons Regimented raised in 1676, the regiment's duties changed during the Second World War into long range patrolling and reconnaissance.
Granted the idea of parachuting dragoons would be something to see in action. ;D
Scary thing about 13th RDP is that its a Regimental sized Special Operations unit dedicated to Special Reconnaissance (specifically HUMINT). Goes to show that some commands value HUMINT a lot more than others.
Well, the USMCs Special Operations Capable units tend to be just the MEUs that qualify for SOC, Marine Reconnaissance and the FAST teams. On the other side of that the USMC do fill the QRF role quite nicely because their aviation tends to all be in-house or supplied by the Navy if on ship.

Its their new issued helmet since late 2011 and it has been approved by SOCOM/USASOC for Airborne Operations, granted I couldn't find any pictures where you could make out the rangers helmets when they were jumping.
As for the new Spectra helmet, did they look at the Ops-Core H-nape? heard...
75th RR has used them for static line jumps since they are issued now along with their MICH helmets. Also they have a new chute down south too don't they? T-11 I believe they are known as? Be interesting to see what features and improvements it has.
Well Rabintex already has a supply of their helmets with the CF along with various Canadian police agencies thus it already has a track record of use in Canada. Sure there are other helmets out and about, but this one is light, low profile has a similar shape (especially with a helmet cover and...
If you guys are worried about lighter helmets just look at the Rabintex Attack: http://www.rabintex.com/ProductView.asp?ID=12, I think there is a model of the Attack shell made specific for paratroopers.
Funny thing is that more SFG CIF (Counter Insurgence Force) Companies are being stood up, maybe that will change with the mounting budget cuts, SFG is a big group in USASOC and could see a lot of the Special Operations cuts coming their way.
I'm going to slip my helmet on for a second,
In the case of the 75th RR its preferred to be brought up in Batt instead of coming from big army in their point of view, a lot of the guys coming from big army have a higher RFS number than those coming in right from the Opt-40 don't ask me how that...
Now I'm just going off a whim here and I don't think I'm qualified to make a statement but it seems your suggesting something similar to the British Army's 16th Air Assault Brigade. 16th AAB holds three of the four parachute battalions, and the air assault elements from other...
I am in Secondary School as well (Grade 12), and trust me get your diploma not only does it make you more competitive but it helps later down the road if and when you want to take some part time courses that may benefit your chosen profession or when you leave the service to go to school or...
