    Boys, Bombs, and Brussels Sprouts

When I was about 14 I read Boys, Bombs, and Brussels Sprouts by J. Douglas Harvey.  At the time I remember reading with awe the adventures and stressful times the author went through as a bomber pilot in WWII.  I was thinking of reading it again, just to update myself, but I was wondering if...

    Greetings, couple of things.

This reply really has nothing to do with the original subject of the thread.   People need to remember that when they start talking about educational requirements, not everyone reading the message will fall under the same category.   University requirements in Alberta are different than...

Problems on the eve of enrollment

Thanks everyone for the advice. Everything is back to normal now. Seems that my wife had some medication last week that that had some lousy side effects and caused all the fuss.  It's out of her system now, thankfully! Thanks again for the support.

Suggestions for Great PC War Games?

Forget the PC platform and pick yourself up a XBox.   Far cheaper than upgrading your PC system every year to be able to handle the new games that come out.  And you'll have it for years.   Less hassle over all as well.   I eventually got tired of needing to upgrade my PC so I just picked up an...

    Order of application

Because you live so far away the CFRC will likely make the effort to accomodate your testing to be all on the same day.  If they schedule appointments on different days without any form of overnight arrangements, you should remind them that you live a huge commute away. For any additional...

Problems on the eve of enrollment

Well, I'm set to swear-in on Aug 25th and depart to IAP on Sept 11.   I thought everything was squared away in the personal life about this but recently (as in just this past week) my wife has been freaking out.   She can't seem to get the idea of out her head that I'm leaving.   I mean leaving...

Summery of what I could expect?

Yes, the CF is need of people.  However, that does not mean they take people just to fill slots.  All positions are still very competitive and many qualfied people are not offered a position. Don't think you would qualify for a signing bonus, but I might be wrong.  Only some occupations do...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Just from prior posts on the subject, I do not think it is any easier to get into RMC depending upon what occupation you apply for.  RMC is extremely competitive--for all applicants.

Summery of what I could expect?

I'm not an expert either, but take what PARAMEDIC tells with a very large grain of salt.   He really doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. There are several officer occupations that you would qualify to apply for.   Just take a look at the occupation descriptions on the recruiting...

    "Air Show" Gallery Proposal

Oh man... I had two VIP passes to that air show but wasn't able to make it.  :'( I'd love to see the pix when you get them up.

    Montreal

I heard it isn't there anymore, but I had good times sucking back 4-litre beers at the Peel Pub.  I'm sure you could get yourself 4-litre beers elsewhere.  After that all peelers look good!

    Air Crew Selection Centre

Take the following for what it's worth.  I have not attended the air crew selection centre, however I was looking into Air Nav at one point so I did extensive research into it. For the simulator they test you on it is not a requirement that you have any flight experience whatsoever.  As stated...

    Montreal

Well, you did pay for the beer, though.  So why would they charge less if customers keep on buying?  If I was running a business (ahem!) I would charge as much as I could get away with. Don't worry lads, you won't be able to miss Super Sexe even if you tried.  Their neon sign belongs in Times...

    Britain Slashing Military Jobs

This is probably related to the recent post about the Highlander regiment being ditched. http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/europe/07/21/uk.defense.cuts/index.html Britain to Slash Military Jobs LONDON, England -- Britain is slashing thousands of jobs from its armed forces over the next four...

Big guy going for infantry training?

Island Rhyno (good name!), I'm in a similar boat as you.   I'm just a naturally big guy at 5'10" and 237.   Not in your range of course, but closer than most would get.   Although I do have a bit of a spare tire it doesn't keep me down--it's just my body type.   A few weeks ago I completed my...

Component Transfers (Reserve to Regular): Stories

Yes, I'm good with the IPC.  I was just hoping to be able to purchase some pensionable days back.  I'll get over it though since in the end it really wouldn't have amounted to whole lot anyway.  I did a quick browse through all those docs you linked to.  I thought I saw something last year in...

Component Transfers (Reserve to Regular): Stories

I'm fine with the IPC I got, but I was a little surprised by my file manager's comment that "no PRes NCMs going RegF DEO get any time credit at all".   Is there a DAOD or something somewhere that lays this out?

Component Transfers (Reserve to Regular): Stories

Now, I had over 3 years of PRes service.  However, I get a big fat zero for time credit or IPC levels when I enroll as DEO next month.  Supposedly, no PRes NCMs get time credit if they then go RegF DEO.  Does this sound right or have I gotten the shaft?
