but the need to fly a mission arises regardless of weather conditions. There were any number of a/c catapulted off in hellish weather on the Murmansk run with no hope of finding a useable deck on the return.

Does Canada Need Redundant Infrastructure? Roads, rail, etc. (Split from 2025 U.S. - Venezuela conflict)

Amen to that. Spent hours at less than 50 mph following a Winnebago vacation convoy of about 30 trailers around Marathon.

maybe in his mind. Asia is definitely dominated by China but Europe could easily swat down Putin if they were provoked enough.

Religion in Schools (split fm Islamic Terrorism)

What is there about the public school system that is so wonderful? There is no discipline and the achievement levels are sub-par. They are dominated by Dewey concepts and controlled by the unions which have a very left wing agenda with which they have been successfully indoctrinating students...

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

If he actually would follow through> the worst thing possible is that the Iranians believe him and press the mullahs harder and he does nothing. We did this to the Hungarians back in the 50s and that didn't turn out so well.

sounds like a medieval argument re: second sons going to the crusades.

unless there is some strong support for revolution from the military all we will witness is more beatings, torture, imprisonment and executions. The pen is mightier than the sword but no match for a gun.

    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

The underlined says it all. Carbon taxes on our own products makes them less competitive so we go elsewhere for our goods. Our own industry loses market and goes bust. In order to level the playing field, we add a tax or tariff to the same product coming in. So now everyone is paying X% more...

    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

not officially, no. But demonstrate to me where Trudeau's leadership embraced democratic ideals. And it wasn't even a true majority although Jagmeet allowed him to act as if it was.

didn't stop them from winning the refit for the Terry Fox. And they do have the yard and docks to handle the work.

so does our citizenship standard. Now we can't get rid of him.

    2025 U.S. - Venezuela conflict

possibly true but from my experience living there, they can't agree on anything and it takes unanimous agreement to accomplish anything: all Putin has to do is keep Hungary on his side and the EU is totally neutered. Effectively just like the veto issues in the U.N.

and that is why he is letting Ukraine hang. Can't afford 2 wars and Venezuela is a much easier target.

    Pipelines, energy and natural resources

In Australia the environmentalists are declaring war on the wind mill group over dead birds. In Germany they are fighting to preserve the last of their heavy industries because wind and solar power costs too much. Perhaps the output of a solar field is cheaper than an NG or coal fired...

Seems to me that Canadian english is nothing more than a hodge-podge of both British and American. We don't have any spellings that are unique to Canada but rather our spellings are totally dependent upon the age of our public school teachers. The older ones tended to British spellings whilst...

    Political impacts of Ukraine war

except I think it was Chamberlain with his peace for our time statement and not Churchill. I wonder how Zelensky manages to maintain his primarily positive attitude towards the guy who keeps pulling the rug out from under him? The man is amazing.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Just an observation from a great lakes recreational sailor. This notion is perhaps going to result in a ship that is good for nothing: it seems like it is neither fish nor fowl. You can build a ice-strengthened tanker or container ship but they are not ice breakers and they are not be able to...

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

for you maybe but 12,000 jobs on the table (whether true or not, they said it); you got Trump for people to get ticked off at and shop elsewhere; the press pushing the cheaper notion again whether true or not, it is out there; all the arguments that the Saab placed second and will fulfill most...
