    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Agree and disagree at the same time. The crown would dearly like to be able to award greater benefits to those it sends into remote locations. And they used to provide benefits to incentivize people to relocate. Unfortunately unions got in the way, demanding equal benefits for anyone with the...

Would that be an advantage to re-activating Bermuda? It is a relatively short sail from there to both Labrador and Europe

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Borrowing your handle, if I may, would it be sensible to go with slightly fewer F35s' and buy a significant quantity of T7 trainers but in an armed configuration. From the way the Ukraine/Russia conflict is developing, an aircraft that can seek and destroy drones would appear to be a very...

Public service employment has grown by 31 per cent

Thanks for that. I don't know how top heavy they are in management but it isn't an unfair ratio. Gotta hurt though because many of the departments work on a last in first out basis so a lot of those going will be the ones you want there in 15 years.

12 months will tell whether he is truly a liberal or whether he is truly concerned about his country. If there is significant progress in developing export facilities for western crude and by that I mean a plan in place and pipe ordered and shovels in the ground will prove the later. If there...

Why Quebec? Kitimat was designed and built by ALCAN for aluminum and it is a lot closer to Tisdale and it has the electricity as well.

and the lawsuits begin (sigh). They say 5 years to start shipping gas. Maybe 5 years to have assessment hearings. Are there any first nation groups in that area he asked cynically.

that article is a good summation of why we are in the fix we are in. Their plans for trucking to the current harbour took years to process and were eventually blocked. Their rail request was blocked or deemed unfeasible at the time and even now their current MP is suggesting another...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

clean to me on the F35 would be internal stores only. I am pre-supposing that an alert aircraft is just that loaded with stores and ready to launch. With internal stores it can prosecute a maximum of 4 targets so coupled with his wingman you have 8 possible hits which would be OK for the...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

get stuffed. making a statement and being informed that what you thought has flaws is a great way to learn more. By answering you contribute to my general knowledge and, incidentally, produce a whole bunch more questions. For instance if your F35 launches in a clean configuration it is only...

Doesn't seem to me that Alberta oil is going to be reaching Europe any time soon with Quebec in the way. How quickly can a route through Churchill be developed and could it be made robust enough to carry the oil required?

never ignored it but isn't it more likely that those Bears and escorts will be turning for home after launching whatever weapons they are carrying long before we are in a position to intercept? Most of the weapons they seem to be launching at Kyiv have less than a 1000 km. range and would be...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I don't think you should count on unmanned a/c in the north for quite a time to come. Sat. coverage is not reliable, distances are huge, and the weather is intolerable a lot of the time. I would guess that it will be the last place to switch to drones. As for flying circles in the north...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

asking as one who hasn't had to deal with OW procurement policies for a number of decades, is there a vague possibility that 1) your overlords are capable of reasoning this out and 2) the people with the pen in OW are smart enough to listen?

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Wouldn't it be wise to identify and procure those bolt on options whilst they are available to be purchased? It is better to have them sitting in a warehouse in Victoria than backordered because our allies are in the same boat. "Should a" is not a valid explanation and "just in time stocking"...

I don't know about that Altair. The "you had a choice" line by Mulroney had quite an impact. But addressing comments from above, I don't understand why everyone is gunning for PP. Although he isn't in power it seems that all lot of his objections are being translated into government actions...
