    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

Yes. Ticonderoga class cruiser is one. In the British fleet the Type 45 Destroyers are Anti Air Warfare (AAW) ships. There are many others from many different countries (Italy, Australia, Japan, etc...). Their features are generally: -very powerful radar combined with a combat management...

And the the EW versions, MPA versions and any other versions that are developed in the future. Its a smart development for an aircraft that has proven itself flexible in multiple military roles.

It's certainly worked out for the UK which had the goal of export when it was designed. Good option for Norway.

Continental Defence Corvette roles have been evolving. And AAW is not one of those. Self defence only at this point.

Designs reach the end of useful life at some point. You can do both honestly.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Yes, they go in for a docking work period of 6 months every 5 years. No those work periods cost triple and take 12 months. With the new system you're constantly replacing the 20 year old ship with a new one. The AOPS were never really part of the permanent build for warships plan. I think...

Because at this point they don't have the experience to build a warship. No experienced workers etc... they would have to build them as well as a proper yard from scratch. At some point it makes more sense to expand an existing shipyard, where you can have the workers never get laid off as...

At the time the CPF was constructed and initially in service it was likely the worlds best true General Purpose Frigate. The missions for the CDC are not the missions for the CPF and the CPF needs a lot of crew. The idea for the CDC is that you can crew three CDC with the same numbers as a...

Not if it's a team build. Smaller yards build blocks and ship them to the larger yard for assembly. It's how you speed up the build and include those smaller yards.

    Continental Defence Corvette

Originally I discounted this as a reference ship but I'm coming around. The ice resistance and general weapons with sensor loadout is pretty good. A Canadian version would need much longer range/endurance, and better oceanic seakeeping. It would also likely be more modular. Crew size of 70...

Canada to Spend $5.0Bil on AEW Aircraft

Recent interview I read with Chief of Airforce stated that air to air refueling for the 6500 was something they were working with Bombardier on and willing to fund. Mainly because it will be desirable to other militaries besides ours and likely lead to more sales.

What gets me is that people are defending the Legend Class choice with no ability to defend itself in a modern (hell 1980s) naval war. It's basically resignation at this point. Just build friggin something!

No they araren't. We're doing enough screwy stuff to ourselves, they dont need to do that at all. And as far as Cyclone, Lockorski is losing money on us every day. So we're probably screwing them to an extent.

The reason it works for Sonar is that underwater warfare is Awfully Slow Warfare. Any latency caused by translation between CTI and Aegis is negligible. Latency between Aegis and CTI could mean in a supersonic missile engagement as those 10ths-100ths of a second equate to dozens of meters...
