Rapture Watch: Command and Control Centre

I thought this Elder Scrolls reference was hilarious. "This isn't how I pictured the Rapture!"

Navy enrollment 2 year wait time.

You may not be able to do much, but it's always good to remind them you're still around and receive updates regarding your file, so that you at least know the status of it.

Perceptions of CivvyU Programs influencing ROTP Application?

Now, I don't know how much merit is placed on the prestige of a school you are enrolled in, but I believe an alternative strongpoint of your application would be the assumed very strong grades you may have had to even gain enrollment in a top university.

I need a career but don't know what I want to do.

I don't agree with you at all. I, like others in this thread, had gone through the recruiting process, and I too have witnessed the recruiters turn people away to go do some of their own research. At that point, the recruiters would be more than happy to assist once the applicant has even the...

Navy enrollment 2 year wait time.

Well, none of us know otherwise whats going on with your file. You could call again to verify that the trades you applied for are a) still open, and b) you are still competing for them. Is your file open or closed, and which part in the process, exactly, are you at? Call back and inquire...

    My situation -

I'm not going to make decisions for the threadstarter, but look at it this way. You aren't entitled to a job in the Forces, and you will be competing against others with at least high school, and in some cases extensive work experience or even post secondary education in some sense. Everything...

Navy enrollment 2 year wait time.

Keep in mind that just because you apply for a job with the Canadian Forces doesn't mean you'll get one. But with that said, call your CFRC. Your best bet to find out is to ... call and find out.

I need a career but don't know what I want to do.

I think if you walk in with no idea whatsoever what you want to do, the CFRC really couldn't help you because that's ultimately a choice the individual has to make. However, with that said, if you walk in knowing your strengths and weaknesses, your work experience, etc. then I think the CFRC...

    Intelligence Officer / Operator

Generally speaking, intelligence is very hard to apply directly into without prior military experience, unless you have some relevant experience. Having intelligence experience as a civvy is very hard to do, unless you've taken courses in the past, or unless you've worked for a "public" agency...

The Reserve Thread- A Merged Collection of Q & A's

Just as the Canadian Forces website states, the Reg Force and Res Force both have extremely similar hiring requirements and at the same time, both are very competitive for the most part.

The Reserve Thread- A Merged Collection of Q & A's

All I and, I think, anyone else here can say is that they look at your entire application to determine your competitiveness with other applicants. I don't believe it would disqualify you, but it may require you to have a stronger application in other areas. You may also have difficulty providing...

Joined the reserves! And now the tough part!

I'd incorporate some jogging, too. You'll be doing a lot of that. Good luck and congrats!

What are my chances of joining the military? Especially with my bad past.

They're after a minimum grade 10 education, but to be competitive it's best to have a high school diploma/GED. If you don't have the minimum requirements to join, they won't even look at your application. My advice, if you want to join the CF, is to get your GED and work toward making yourself...

    Reserves or regular force?

If you aren't confident you'll enjoy it, I'd recommend reserves. Most reserve units provide you with a good sense of what the military is, and how you are part of it, and they can get your feet wet.

    Reserves or regular force?

Like others have said, it's very impossible for us to offer any advice at all without knowing why you're considering between reserves and regular force. What do you think are the positives and negatives of each, for you? Perhaps if you offer us this info, we can see where you're at personally.

What are my chances of joining the military? Especially with my bad past.

While I'm not going to say "You'll get in!!", I will say that the recruiters will take notice of the commitment you took changing all the negative aspects of your life and coming out of it a better person. Your best bet is to contact a recruiter and get official information, but I don't think...

The Vancouver Canucks Rule Thread! ha ha

For game 7, I think Luongo should definitely start (Schneider might be injured, I don't know if he'll be injured for long...). The shots were very close, but I think the Canucks are back on stride to take the series. I hope.
