    Chance of Deployment [Merged]

This thread is about if this individual can use the military to gain free training and get paid for it, while not doing so for the sake of the Forces but rather for her own reasons. Based on the fact that you don't want to actually serve in the military, it probably isn't for you.

    Penthouse folding!

I'll admit, my first thought was that Penthouse was going out of business. ....*ahem*

Marks / Grades: School / GED or PLAR [MERGED]

Of course there are bad professors. It's just convenient that every person who felt they would succeed in university, failed, and now feels that they will succeed in the Canadian Forces has experienced bad professors. ;)

BMQ changed to 10 weeks ?

Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say it "makes no difference", I said "there is a difference". People do think it matters, otherwise this thread wouldn't exist. You may disagree, but your opinion holds no relevance to whether this is a worthwhile topic or not. Many people will, in fact...

    Releasing to other employment inquiry

You have to realize that nobody forced you to join in the first place, and nobody told you to sign - two - contracts. You willingly signed these contracts, but it sounds like you think you're entitled to a lot. There might be a "better" job waiting for you, but what do you expect the CF to do...

    Got a hard question

I'm having difficulty following this. 1. They think someone else was driving? So you didn't do anything wrong? 2. They're dropping the charges, but will be giving you a fine? What are you being charged with? And if you ... didn't do anything wrong, and if they are dropping the charges, why...

Marks / Grades: School / GED or PLAR [MERGED]

Don't blame the university for your inability to succeed in one. Students are guided through high school, and there's still a lot of support in college. University students require a lot more determination because they are left to their own devices and they do their own thing, with the...

    Starting in the Reserve

Each "drill hall" may have more than one reserve unit attached to it. I've spent a little time at the mess (ie. beer) in a few of the Lower Mainland ones, and I will admit, I was impressed. My advice is to choose a trade, then find and see if there are any units available for that trade. I...

afraid of being not accepted because of mild tic as a minor

It's not a matter of whether there is a record of it, it's about whether he is going to be truthful to the recruiter, to the Canadian Forces, and to his potential fellow members. Not disclosing something that he knows very well may or may not be an issue is dishonest and not only is...

    Aerospace Control Officers-AEC [merged]

I would reconsider if you want to be in the Canadian Forces, then. You are paid a salary. You work and train as they need you. This is true for any trade that you join. Yes, you can have a life, but the CF takes precedent over everything and anything else you do. If this sounds okay to you...

    Starting in the Reserve

When you say New West Res Unit, I assume you mean the Royal Westminster Regiment (Westies), which are infantry reserves. Between them, and between them and the Seaforth Highlanders, probably some of the best infantry reserve units you can join. If armoured is what you're looking for, there's the...

Is Obama allegedly indictable for 'conspiracy to overthrow a foreign government"

The CIA didn't cause the Soviet Union to implode, the arms race did.

CF position on poor academic history.

They will not reject your file based on that, but they may or may not take it into account during the application process. Remember, it's easy to say that you've got what it takes, but you also felt you had what it takes to do the university, and it failed. Note: I'm not saying you don't have...

    Nervous about being accepted.

This. Different people have varying amounts of difficulty with the CFAT. To this day, I still don't know what my "mark" was, but it was good enough for my three trade choices.

Poor muffin and Spec pay to boot.

If only that were the complete problem. Sounds like he doesn't want to be a super-sniper spec-ops ninja until after 0600hours, either.

Poor muffin and Spec pay to boot.

She has a point. Most militaries in the world only operate 9:00 - 17:00, monday through friday and because they don't have time during that period to do a lot of fitness training, there's no PT requirements to join them. Strange that Canada's military is so different... /sarcasm machine off

    Pectus excavatum (merged)

I'm not a doctor, but you should consider what you can't do in that state. I'm unfamiliar with it, so I don't know, but if there are any physical movements you can't do, I personally would recommend waiting until it's done before joining combat arms. I add again that I am not a doctor.
