Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

It would be interesting to see what the fitness tests of the CF were from 1950 - current. And see what the differences are. I'm guessing they are substantially easier now.

    Remedial Measures DAOD 4019-4 [merged]

I concur, modlrmike you give me hope haha. I have seen guys come in 20 - 30 minutes late after not having been late for the following two years. And were checked out guys and it just goes way over the top with some people and a n incident like that shouldn't be noted on a permanent basis. Good...

    F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF)

Russia's answer http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/11/russia-stealth/ Russia’s T-50 stealth fighter prototype, the first radar-evading warplane outside the U.S. when it debuted in January 2010, is slightly less stealthy than the American F-22 and about equal to the smaller F-35. But in...

    Op Attention Danger Pay Reductions?

I don't think danger pay is the reason the attrition rate is 25%. But I actually do agree with some of the statements he makes.

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

Now if only they had a small fitness test at the recruiting center for reg f. And if anything just start using the same one they use for reserves.

pushup problems; PSP, warrior, PT test.

He may not be getting as much sleep or as good of a diet in his normal platoon. He should just be working on his fitness all the time. Or he may just stress out and lose some upper body strength for his test. 3 things to improve push-ups Start in the push up position: Go all the way down, half...

    Op Attention Danger Pay Reductions?

As much as I agree that there should be a reduction in the level of danger allocated to the canadians serving in op attention, would I want to see them make less money? Only if it meant putting the money back into the military on stuff that we need. Not if it goes to some save the whales project...

CSOR and JTF2 Physical Fitness tests - what they are, minimum standard, etc

Can't speak for the jtf2 pre selection book. But this is why the CSOR program is the way it is. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22643138 And I thought it was just designed to prevent any lawsuits. But apparently there is some science behind it. Maybe for the coopers test they should get...

    Flat Feet

I know it's a dead thread but I think I can shed some light. And give some advice. I joined the Canadian army fine with flat feet, they did cuase shin splints from time to time. Usually when I was overtraining anyway. I had collasped arches but my feet are flexible which is why I was still...

Future Canadian Airborne Capability and Organisation! Or, is it Redundant? (a merged thread)

I don't feel 'attacked'  and yes my having little experience may not qualify my opinion or should I say idea. But does that really matter? I see that as addressing me instead of the proposed idea. Which to me shows lack of intelligence or general laziness to really get into the nitty-gritty of...

Future Canadian Airborne Capability and Organisation! Or, is it Redundant? (a merged thread)

"and if the requirement is found not to exist, then why are we investing in the current system?" My sentiment exactly. It's time to start asking the hard questions. And stop just accepting what is or was and look at the future on the CF as a whole. With the para question as one of the few. If...

There we go those are the right questions. Alas I don't think I am qualified to answer those questions.

Future Canadian Airborne Capability and Organisation! Or, is it Redundant? (a merged thread)

I think they have recently been working on that capability. Chow might be able to clarify. Future reference for people on these forums. Don't play like a politician and try to discredit the person instead of discrediting the idea. It seems to happen on most of these threads. Even stupid people...

Future Canadian Airborne Capability and Organisation! Or, is it Redundant? (a merged thread)

I know there are only two companies right now. And I know more people are about to leave. Retention is horrible but that's for another thread. Even if we could always get aircraft we still weren't able to make a jump that could seize (and hold) an airfield or bridge. No I don't know how many...

Future Canadian Airborne Capability and Organisation! Or, is it Redundant? (a merged thread)

My bad I meant det. 1. 3vp has 1 coy dedicated to jump, another coy almost completely qualified, and yet another coy at least 1/3 qualified. And that was before the serials ran when I left. Not to mention the medics, engineers and arty guys attacthed at that time. And the goal was to have an...

Implications of a Garrison Bound US Army

The world isn't what it was. I can't foresee the US Army staying in garrison for long. More people hate them more now than ever. "Is the Regular Army merely a training ground for Special Forces?" This would seem to be the shift as armies world wide are building large parts of their forces to...

    Tracking Capability? Relevant?

"The Military over the past few decades have focused on methods other than patrolling, as a way to deter, detect and pursue an elusive quarry. Scent Dogs, Sensors, cameras, and the use of UAV’s are some examples. Basic ―field craft‖ skills have given way to the over reliance on technologies and...

Future Canadian Airborne Capability and Organisation! Or, is it Redundant? (a merged thread)

I think that they do that out east. At least in theory they do. Not sure if it's practiced or not. Sniper platoon is in my opinion probably not the best spot as they have skills of there own to maintain. As long as there is place for them to feed off of eachother, I think that's all that matters.

Future Canadian Airborne Capability and Organisation! Or, is it Redundant? (a merged thread)

There is a movement (at least out west) to bring back the airborne capability. They are able to run their own jump courses now and thus have more qualified jumpers in the battlions. To support them properly maybe we should put together a full time pathfinder capability as opposed to taking...
