In a perfect world that wouldn't happen, but you would find that once EMS was totally integrated in with fire, you'll have people trying to use paramedicine as a backdoor to firefighting. Just look to the US where the fire/medic model is used extensively.
Yes we're here to serve the...
What specifically would they disagree with? I'm just curious to find out how different regions operate.
I imagine your friends joined the fire department to be firefighters, not paramedics. I would imagine that they do not have a vested interested in paramedicine and as such only spend the...
I'm a PCP with a large urban service in Southern Ontario (not Toronto EMS). Where I work fire is tiered on all SOB, unconscious/ decrease consciousness, chest pain, major trauma, VSA, and any other call the dispatchers at CACC think fire might be useful. They typically beat us to calls as they...
If the IAFF and the Fire Union are for it then you know it's a bad idea. These bodies have done an exceptional job of making the public believe that firefighters are absolutely necessary and that in order to be safe you need to have a fire station, filled with firefighters on every block. The...
Ah yes the legislation that makes us a 'sorta' essential services.
Gotta love it. And Zipperhead, i'm not sure if we even rank as high as step children, sometimes I get the feeling we're more of the bastard child from a one night stand in Mexico.
Are you seriously complaining becuase police, paramedics and (for some reason) fire are exempted from this law?
Jeez. Okay, you're a tax paying individual, just think of the additional expense police, EMS and (to a lesser extent) fire would have to take on if we weren't exempted from the...
I find most of our 'clients' who are looking just for a ride don't even bother with making up some medical reason to be chauffeured to the emerg. They know that regardless of what they say, they'll make it to the hospital.
It can be incredibly frustrating.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3uoVOOlT2s&feature=related this happens far too often.
Not becuase of people making bad 911 calls, rather it's crews not really thinking when they're responding.
I must admit I haven't spent any significant amount of time thinking about this particular case, but with that being said as soon as I heard about it on the news a few days ago some warning bells starting firing in the back of the head. In fact the same bells that went off when that woman in...
Oh i've been tempted to grab people's noses lol.
I think she's on to something with her treatment of tension pneumos, i can just see the next revisions to the ALS guide.
"When the following conditions exist, an Advanced Care Paramedic may perform a 'McDonalds' straw thoracostomy according to...
yay another craptacular medical show. Looks like very slim pickings for new shows this fall.
Anyone see the trailer for Trauma? Another steaming pile of televised fecal matter.
Mario,
Is that medical evaluation for the F-class or in addition to it? So far no one has mentioned that in three years i'll have to get another one done, but that could have more to do with the fact that i've only been 'working' for a few weeks.
Now if only the ministry can get my OASIS...
Driving while intoxicated is much worse than speeding.
And on a side note, why the hell did Sun media feel it necessary to include the man's 2008 salary in the article?
