    Thoughts on being medically rejected

I give you credit for having dealt with the mental health issues you experienced during that brief period of your life, and for having the forethought to have the expectation that they could have possibly effected your applicaction (as it seemed to).  All I can really say (although somewhat...

    CFS Leitrim Question

That's a no.  There is no singles quarters at Leitrim.  Closest you can get is living in the Q's in south Ottawa.  I don't have a clue about the buses though, I've always had a car.

    Ship's Divers

If I'm not mistaken the PRes has the QL1 and QL2 but I might be right out to lunch with that.  As for the reg force:  QL3 basic trades training QL4 usually onboard qualification (in case of NESOP's there was an onboard QL4 exam, and now there is a seperate course before your 5's) QL5 (also...

Extra Kit on BMQ ? Cameras, Cell Phones, Laptops..

We had some people with laptops during IAP.  Toward the later half of the course (when we weren't in the field) there was still time to catch the odd flick.  Definitely not an abundance of time though.  I'll be packing mine this summer for BOTP and will be glad to share/hook-up internet and...

    Electronics for 280 replacement

As I already said I've sailed in the gulf as an FCS when we were part of a fully integrated unit for a BG so I'm fairly aware about coaliton ops.....  My comment was directed toward CANADIAN operations, not as us trying to be part of the USN!  I don't see that as our role.  I understand...

    Electronics for 280 replacement

So you think our ideal ships would be ones that would allow us to turn our autonomy over to the Americans?  Keep in mind that we are also part of NATO so should we adopt a common AGEIS style system with all the NATO nations so they could take over our systems in a time of battle?   There is a...

    Electronics for 280 replacement

Some people in the posts have suggested AGEIS system.  I don't see this as a necessity for Canada.  We don't really ever sail around in battle group formation looking to protect an HVU (unless it's the tanker.....).  Our ships (considering our role) don't need a link based central control CCS...

I need help - Contacting Pers on Deployment

As 48th regulator has suggested, the "rear party" would likely be the best bet.  Otherwise I would also suggest getting in touch with the MFRC for his base (Military Family Resource Centre).  They are a good agency to help bridge the gap between civilians and military troops who are deployed.

    Cornwallis Vs. St Jean

Your points are well taken seaking tacco as are sailing instructors with regard to what waxing a floor can bring.  My response, and I suppose question would be this.  People are using the fact that in Cornwallis you used to have to wax floors as (being an element of) equating to being a better...

    Maps of Afghanistan

Decent maps.  I wish they were even more detailed vis-a-vie the smaller and more important villages.  Links both worked for me though.

    Cornwallis Vs. St Jean

Ah the good ol days of Cornwallis when you had to be beaten, screamed at, ridiculed, and weren't allowed to even see or smell your civies for the duration of your time there.  All of these elements seem to me to be what makes a good soldier.....oh wait.....no they don't!  I know that in my...

Controversial hoax article - "IMMIGRANTS, NOT Canadians MUST ADAPT"

Lets not also forget that unless your a "native Canadian" writing this, then you yourself were an immigrant (or your family root) at some point.  WE came here from Europe and forced our culture on the people already living in Canada, and by the fact that we would want to continue to walk around...

    Ship's Divers

This is just my opinion, but I'd wait until you have all your drawings done, and you're fully swept up on your job before taking over extra duties.  From that side of things, I doubt that your dept would let you go until you had everything done.  Once you are "settled in" to the ship look for...

Officers doing BMQ rather than IAP?

It's not likely something that you would have encountered in your civilian life.  The CF has a specific way to deal with providing information (orders) to it's troops that is generally known as the SMESC format that has the information metted out in the following way. Situation Mission...

Officers doing BMQ rather than IAP?

I'm not exactly what you're asking for by way of a qualified expert but I can give you my opinion based on my own personal experiences.  I was a reg force NCM and did my BMQ at St. Jean back in '97.  I have been picked up for UTPNCM and did my IAP last summer at St. Jean.  From this I can give...
